Instructions
  • Take dog for a short walk to calm them down and burn off extra energy. Take a few minutes to pet the dog to make sure he is not overly stressed or scared
  • Thoroughly brush and/or comb to remove tangles and mats
  • Understand the product difference between a clipper and a trimmer. A clipper is a larger tool designed to cut longer body hair. A trimmer is more of a detail tool that is used for touch-ups.
  • Consulting specific breed, size and coat type instructions on this website, use clippers to trim excess fur off the dog’s body, choosing the appropriate clipper guide comb to achieve desired length. Start with the shoulders and progress towards the tail
  • Clip as close to the body as desired, leaving at least a half-inch or more in order to maintain enough protection from the elements
  • Clip hair around the paws and tail Inspect the chest to determine if any trimming is needed
  • Clip any excess fur that is hanging or isn’t uniform to the rest of the body
  • Clip the head and face last, being careful of moving ears, mouth, eye lashes and nose. Choose a clip attachment adhering to your desired fur length. Place the clipper flat against the top of the dog’s head with the blade spokes facing to the rear. Pull the clippers towards the back to push fur away from the upper brow.
  • Clip the muzzle by beginning at the bridge of the nose and pulling clippers downward towards the dog’s mouth
  • Clip or trim between the eyes by placing the clipper guide comb or the trimmer flat against the forehead with the blade spokes facing the nose. Progress towards the nose, being extra cautious of potential head movement or jerks in order to remain safely away from the eyes
  • Gently wrap your free hand around the dog’s muzzle and point it towards the ceiling. Place the guide comb against the chin, with the spokes facing the throat, and run the clippers towards the throat to trim the underside of the muzzle.
  • Hold the ear tip between fingers so that only fur rests above the fingers (no skin) and trim this hair. Repeat along the edges of the ear.
  • If necessary, gently trim excess hair in the inside of ears, using a smaller trimmer. Always avoid the ear canal.
FAQ

How can I make my dog more comfortable for grooming?

It is always wise take your dog for a walk or exercise prior to grooming activities, particularly if he is the type to get restless, antsy or apprehensive. It will diminish the dog’s energy level and make it easier to complete the task. Aromatherapists say the smell of spearmint and peppermint help calm dogs, so it might be worth buying a few scented candles.

What is the best way to de-mat my dog?

Use a liquid fur detangler or work some baby oil into the mat. Let it sit for several minutes and then loosen and separate using your fingers or the end of a comb. Gently brush out the loosened sections. Severe, stubborn mats may have to be clipped if detangling doesn’t work.

Do I really need to brush my dog?

Absolutely. Not brushing will lead to the development of mats. Matted hair will pull and inflame his sensitive skin and will be painful to remove. Regular brushing will also keep the dog’s skin healthy by stimulating blood flow and distributing natural oils, while also rooting out parasites.

    I am impressed.

    By on

This is a wonderful trimmer for it's size and also being rechargeable. It does have a slight hum when in use but the pup doesn't seem to mind it. It works great on the pups face, feet and fanny. When I get brave enough to groom the pup myself I will get Wahl brand clippers.

    Perfect my Needs

    By on

I bought this trimmer to lightly trim my long haired cats butt fluff and paws. He doesn't mind the sound which is awesome! He does not like the vibration if I get too close to his skin, but I expected that. I don't think this would work for shaving off really matted fur. I'm just shaving off some butt feathers and the long strands of hair that stick out between his toes. Works great for that!

    Whisper Quiet, Great Quality

    By on

I wanted clippers to keep the toe pads trimmed on my shelties as scissoring took way too long. I was not sure how they would take to an electric razor but they never flinched once when I began to use this. It made short work of keeping their feet trimmed...plus a little "sani" trim around "those" areas. It is extremely light weight and small. For my use, this is perfect. I could not see it as a tool for lots of trimming, but for small areas that should be neat and trimmed of excess fur, this is awesome and I feel like I have so much control because of the small head size. The blade has enough set back that there is no fear of any razor burn. Great little device!

    Great for paws!

    By on

I am only using this for paws because it is tiny. Maybe a little around the face. I like it because I can easily get a replacement blade.

    Way too small

    By on

This is really tiny, especially for the price. Good for scalping since it takes hair off down to the skin. I found the attachments difficult to use

Works great for small trimming, like paws, under our Spaniels ears, and getting out mats. Very quiet and light weight. Great purchase!

    love it! on my CKCS

    By on

I use it to trim the hair between the toe pads on my Cavalier. It’s quiet, safe, and effective! I’ve never used a trimmer before, so I was a little afraid at first but not anymore. It has never hurt her at all. She’s a little ticklish, but it’s not too bad. I highly recommend.

    Quality Trimmer

    By on

I am very happy with the quality of this mini trimmer. It's much quieter than the main trimmer I use on my Cockers, I wanted to replace the older trimmer I had for one of my smaller dogs. this was an ideal choice.

    Fantastic!

    By on

Wow this works so well. It's quiet and efficient. I wish I had known about these clippers sooner. I happily threw out the old clippers (different brand). I bought this item to use on a dear elder cat who usually has to go to the vet to have the mats removed. Now I'm working on them, one at a time. I'm very pleased.
