    missing ESSENTIAL amino acids...

    By on

I found out it didn’t have Taurine or L-Carnatine, both essential amino acids for a Healthy heart. Apparently this food is designed as a “base” for a “non-vegan” topper? Switching to V-Dog now as it includes both essential acids. Wish this was more transparent. I read every single label and this still slipped by me. Know what you’re getting before you purchase. Read everything, including all reviews. Still a great quality product, but definitely not suitable, on its own, to keep your dog happy and healthy. I’ve noticed a significant drop in energy since on this food and just figured it was because it was hot out and he didn’t want to walk. Nope! His body was literally shutting down. Finally found the right one!

    By on

We have been looking for the right vegan food for our dogs for the last 3 months and found that one of our dogs is sensitive to grain. This food smells fresh and is filled with nothing but good ingredients. Our dogs both love it.

My dog doesn’t seem to like it...

    By on

I have a chihuahua mix and she rather not eat than eat this. It’s a shame because I was hopeful for a new vegan food different from Halo Vegan. It may be good for some dogs though.

three like it, two hate it

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

I have 5 dogs. The pit bull really, REALLY loves this food. He devours it. One husky likes it. One husky thinks it's alright. If you have a toy breed, maybe skip this food. My two Italian greyhounds seem to hate it because the kibbles are so hard. With such mixed reviews from my dogs, I say that if you want to try this food, buy a small bag.

    Happy Dogs!

    By on

My dogs are not picky so this review might not help those with very picky dogs, but my dogs are enjoying this food. Their stools look great. Coats look nice. Their energy and behavior is fine. I'll be adding this food into the kibble rotation for them.

    I’m Convinced

I have an 8 year old adopted Boxer who I have had since he was 3 and I’ve always fed him grain free food. I thought I was doing the absolute best for him and his health. Well, shortly after his 8th birthday my pup started have SEVERE acid reflux. I mean he could be standing in front of you and out of nowhere a waterfall of food and bio comes flowing from his face. Additionally, he was always super itchy and scratching all the time. So much so we literally started calling him “itchy scratchy.” He also had a really bad smell and was shedding like crazy. We had gotten to the point of washing him every other week and his bedding weekly. It was bad. I was very concerned about my baby boy so I started I have an 8 year old adopted Boxer who I have had since he was 3 and I’ve always fed him grain free food. So much so we literally started calling him “itchy scratchy.” He also had a really bad smell and was shedding like crazy. We had gotten to the point of washing him every other week and his bedding weekly. It was bad. I was very concerned about my baby boy so I started doing research on what could be causing such issues with him and one of the things I read was removing protein and fat from his diet and a recommendation of moving him to a vegan dog food. Of course I didn’t think that there was such a thing a vegan dog food however I knew I didn’t want to see my baby suffer anymore. It was breaking my heart. I also wanted to make sure he was getting the nutrients he needed to stay healthy. When I started researching there were so many options right down to cooking his food fresh every day which we cannot afford to do. I came across this dog food and decided I would order a small bag and try it out. When I first got it we had to do the weening so he still had the reflux and a bit of an itch however it’s now been two months (we started in September) and my pup is doing AWESOME. Not only does he LOVE LOVE LOVE the food he has not had an episode of acid reflux in over a month, he hasn’t scratched (outside of the normal itch) in over a month, his shedding is minimal, and HE DOESN’T SMELL! I mean really, he has no scent lol. I am so super thankful I tried this food. I don’t usually do food reviews and I know this is lengthy however I am really appreciative for Walk About. As a treat I mix his kibbles with Halo vegan wet and I’m just over the moon happy to see he’s happy and not suffering anymore. Thank you so much. … more

Stopped itching but dog didn’t like it

    By on

Neither of my dogs liked the food. Wouldn’t eat it until starving. It did help with my dog’s itchy skin though.
