Help your pal heal with the HandicappedPets Bootie Style Dog Leg Splint. This convenient bootie style splint can be used on either front or back paws to provide complete joint support thanks to its design that extends under the paw. It provides stability for weakness from arthritis or injuries, and helps promote healing during physical therapy or while recovering from fractures, sprains, and surgeries. This splint also helps prevent knuckling, or the inability to place paws on the ground, which can occur in pets with neurological conditions or nerve damage. Both sturdy and lightweight, it features a cushioned inner lining to make it ultra-wearable and is waterproof and easy-to-clean to support wound care. Putting it on your pal is easy―place his paw in the splint with his nails at edge, and then just buckle in place using the fuzzy fastener straps. Plus, it’s available in different sizes to accommodate pets of all builds.

It’s important to remember that any splint or bootie placed on a pet’s foot will need to be removed at bedtime, and should be removed for at least an hour during the day to allow the foot to breathe.
When introducing a new splint to a pet, it’s important to start slowly. Positive reinforcement methods, using praise, treats, or toys should always be used in association with the splint. The splint will initially make the pet walk “funny” or maybe not want to walk at all. Using positive reinforcement to encourage walking is always the best approach.
Day One: Place splint on pet for 10-15 minutes at a time, then remove. Try these short sessions 3 to 4 times during Day One.
Once the splint is removed, look for any areas of irritation or rubbing on the pet’s skin that may have been caused by the splint. If you notice an area of rubbing, please consult one of our customer service representatives for fitting assistance, and your veterinarian with any medical concerns.
Remember that every pet is different; it may take pets longer than a few days to get used to the splint, and that’s OK. It’s more important to make sure the pet is comfortable with the splint and the fit is correct than to rush the process. Continue with these short sessions until your dog adjusts. If you are concerned that the fit isn’t correct, please contact our customer service department or consult with your veterinarian.
Day Two: If your pet is having a hard time adjusting to wearing the splint, continue with the short 10-15 minute sessions, as described in Day One. If your pet seems to be walking a little better and is getting used to the splint, then it’s time to increase the session length a bit.
Place splint on for 15-30 minutes at a time, then remove. Try these sessions 3 to 4 times during Day Two. Again, look for any signs of discomfort, and respond accordingly.
Day Three: If your pet is still having a hard time, continue with the short 10-15 minute sessions, as described in Day One. If the pet seems to be walking a little better than in Day Two and is getting used to the splint, then it’s time to increase session length again.
Place splint on for 30-60 minutes at a time, then remove. Try these sessions 3 to 4 times during Day Three. Once again, look for any signs of discomfort, and respond accordingly.
Ongoing: Once the pet is able to comfortably wear the splint for 4 hours or more in the day, and no areas of rubbing or irritation are present, it’s all right to increase wear time to almost a full day, if needed. If you are unsure how long the splint should be worn based on your dog’s medical condition, it’s always best to consult with your veterinarian.

Purchased this for my GSD who broke her toe. Cast only lasted 2 days and thought this might help but have been unable to keep it from slipping. Fit seems right but paw slips up and afraid to make bottom velcro too tight on broken toe. Didn't work for us.
I have a Great Dane that broke her toe and needed to have a splint. This product has worked wonders for her. She went from not being able to walk on the injured paw at all, to being able to walk completely fine as long she has it on. It’s easy to put on and take off, and is very durable. I’m honestly very impressed with the quality. I expected it to be kind of flimsy or maybe have poor velcro.. something. But no, it’s very durable and even my vet was impressed with it. The padding on the bottom keeps her from sliding on the hardwood too. Be sure to measure your pets paw before purchasing! My dog weighs 104 lbs but still only needed the large size. Measurements on the sizing chart are correct, but weights in the chart are not!
Over priced poor fitting. $70 for some plastic and velcro. We measured our dog as instructed and the thing would not stay on or kept turning around backwards.
Horrible horrible product!!! Does not fit and will not stay on,Definitely not true to size
This splint didn’t work for our dog. It wouldn’t stay on. Chewy was great to deal with for the return and refund.
Don't waste your money get the brace that fits higher this one keeps falling off.
My dog needed to be in a rear foot splint for 12 weeks for a broken toe. The first splint the vet put on him was too small and gave hime some sores on his hock. Then they put a well padded larger splint on him and he did not bother it all. The problem was keeping the splint dry in the wet Montana weather. I thought this would work and have the added benefit of easy removal to let the foot and the splint dry. Even if I had to order 2 and alternate them. It worked well and allowed my dog to walk without discomfort for a few hours. After that it seemed to hurt him. I think it hit the sores on his hock in the wrong place. Maybe a bigger size and wrapping the foot with padding may have worked but it would have defeated the intended purpose. Nicely made product. I wish I had tried it before he had sores on his hock.
This did not work for my dog. It didn't fit great but it was too hard and heavy and it made the situation worse. It could be a good thing if it was just a splint just something light to keep her foot in place with a backing that is not so thick.
It was hard to find the actual sizes of how big the animal had to be when I bought it.. So I bought it too big and it doesn’t fa so I bought it too big and it doesn’t fit
Has stayed on...kept his foot from further damage...and is literally a leg saver . Otherwise we would have to amputate his leg . He will need one for the rest of his life and so glad this is perfect for him . He’s been wearing it for several months and leaves it alone. And it has held up well through a young labs play...siblings biting and chewing...and many many washings . Great product.
