I knew exactly what I was getting

By MsLubner on May 22, 2021

After reading the reviews for this nesting box, I knew exactly what I was getting. If I could find a similar, better made one at this price, I would have gotten that one instead. I thought I may have bit off more than I could chew when it was delivered. The box was 3 times as big, and had miles of brown, paper packing inside. Obviously, someone knew this nesting box was fragile. I cradled it as I lifted it out of the box and gingerly walked it out to my chicken coop. As I tried to place it, it began to show a gaps in the corners, so I used 2 hands to get it situated. We have had rain now for about 2 weeks. I don't dare try to adjust it because I know it will come apart. Not much thought After reading the reviews for this nesting box, I knew exactly what I was getting. We have had rain now for about 2 weeks. I don't dare try to adjust it because I know it will come apart. Not much thought went in to the construction and materials. I have to say though, my hen loves it. She spends a lot of time walking around in it. I am hopeful it continues to hold up in this weather so she can lay her first egg in it. I would have to say, if you use this nesting box, it will work out best if it is used in a barn or other covered or weather protected coop. I gave this 3 stars as a whole, but my chicken, Barbara, would most likely give it 5, but keep in mind, she's just a chicken. … more

    Chicken Laying Boxes

By Charlotte on Jan 5, 2021

I have 11 hens, raised from pullets. I looked and researched nesting boxes for them to lay their eggs. They are fussy and they refused to nest in plastic boxes. These fill the bill. I read reviews that said they were cheap and fell apart. And i worried about that. So I purchased just one to try. They are not cheaply constructed. They are made well. They work perfectly for my needs.. My chickens only want to nest in these and since purchasing them they are laying 11 eggs daily. Am very pleased. They are sturdy, constructed well. And the best part, I can line them up with the open back facing out and when I open the coop doors, I can reach in without having to stretch to collect eggs. Poorly made, fell apart

By Laura on Sep 25, 2020

The wood is just a little better quality than cardboard.

    Cheap....Cheap....Cheap

By Chefy on Mar 31, 2020

Obviously you get what you pay for, and I wasn't expecting anything super crazy but the nails used to put the box together wouldnt even hold a hen! One of mine jumped in it shortly after putting them in and it fell apart with her in it. Definitely wouldn't reccomend for a hanging situation.

    Cheep Cheep

By Elmo on Aug 22, 2019

I didn't want to bother my husband to make me nesting boxes so I bought 4. The "staples" keeping the box together couldn't even hold the weight of a hen. My husband laughed and walked away. I do not recommend this product. :(

    Good value

By Dolly on May 26, 2019

I ordered 4 of these nesting boxes. They arrived very quickly. They are made from pressboard and I figured the chickens would peck them to pieces in no time, so I varnished them. They dried and look great.
