This item is so well made. Husband says it looks like furniture, he really likes the gray color. Both Oreo & Romeo say the scratching board is so tightly woven that as hard as they try they can't get it to pop out of the incline. I think (& hope) the tight weave will make the scratching pad last longer. Both cats took to it right away, even without the catnip. I hope to upgrade to the beautiful cubes for me, our home, and...oh yes the katz!
This comes unassembled, pretty easy to put together. Such poor quality and cheaply made. It's not sturdy or solid for either of my cats to claw on. Every time one of them tries to scratch it, the cardboard/top panel comes loose or off. The top panel is supposed to stay attached to the base via thin/narrow velcro, but the velcro is cut so thin/narrowly that it's completely ineffective or usable.
I thought this would be a "regular" scratcher but it is all cardboard. I think it's great that they are recycling cardboard. I have the scratcher standing up the tall way to protect my couch but The scratcher pad falls out when the cats use it. Because it falls out every time they use it they have stopped using BUT it still protects my couch and the whole reason why I bought it. I had to take a star off because the pad falls out each time it's used
Very nice design and beautiful color. It looks elegant and all, but my cats didn't pay attention to it even though I put all the catnip packet it comes with. they only smelled the catnip but did not use the scratch. I think they don't feel it stable since it comes off easily
Really wanted to like this, (2 stars because it's made from recycled materials which is great.) However, when used the scratch board just falls out.. she pulls it out every time, so not very effective & annoying having to put it back in multiple times a day.
I bought this for a kitten and a 1 1/2-year-old cat and neither liked it. I gave it to my dog groomer to see if her cats would use it. Our cats would have nothing to do with it. I tried adding catnip and placing it in different spots.
This was better than I even expected. The cats have not left it alone since I put it together. The catnip that came with it has made them literally drool on it! For the cost, I HIGHLY recommend it.
I bought this for my kitty named Tiger. She loves scratching up things. So I tried this scratch board. It took some time for Tiger to play with it. She started off laying on top of it and then scratching it. The catnip is liquid and I squeezed the catnip on it. Now she scratches the board almost daily.
My cat prefers the horizontal position. I adopted him as an adult and he started scratching my furniture. He is now using these scratchers instead. Yay! I like that you can refill the scratching part.
I keep trying with scratches and thought since this one can be used vertically it may actually be Wilson approved. Nope, other than the messy, ugly cardboard type no other material seems to attract him. Yes, I have various wonderful catnips and sprays also. Another one which likely will end up on the "feral porch." I'll look for something large now. Your cat may enjoy it, looks ok and has a nice frame.
