Transition Instructions

The best way to transition your pet onto a new food is to gradually introduce the food by mixing it with the old diet (starting by mixing 90% old with 10% new and increase new by 10% each day until the bowl is full of only Wellness). Mixing the food will allow your pet to acclimate to the new taste and not overindulge on the new food.

When food transition is not an option, there are a few ways to ensure a good transition:

Feed multiple, smaller volume meals. This will decrease the likelihood of over-consumption and provide for a more consistent, firm stool. Add clean warm water to the food to help soften it. Add a digestive aid such a boiled brown rice or sugar-free canned pumpkin.

    I wouldn't feed anything else!

    By on

I love this food. My cats aren't picky eaters (I call them the trash cats - they'll literally eat plastic and dirt if I leave it out) so I don't have any thoughts surrounding if it's good for picky eaters. It keeps their weight at a healthy level without needing to feed a ton of food per day, their coats are healthy and shiny, and I love that Wellness has a focus on good, complete proteins as their primary ingredients. They don't cheap out on fillers, but the price is still reasonable (especially comparing it to other brands of similar quality).

My Three Amigos were not happy

    By on

My three boys are usually not picky eaters, they will normally polish off whatever I put in front of them. But they were not thrilled with this kibble. They finally ate it when they realized it was that or nothing, but it definitely was not their favorite.

    Recommended by veterinarian

    By on

One of my cats has a food allergy which causes him to scratch, bite and pull on his hair. Our veterinarian suggested I try this, along with a few others. Since he can be a picky eater, I was sure he wouldn't like any food that is also healthy, but he has no problem with Wellness. So I ordered the 11 lb. bag. My other cat likes it too.

    Loved by Picky Ricky

    By on

We love Chewy! After Ricky showed up 2 years ago, he had quite a few health problems to overcome. We tried several different foods (Ricky has discerning taste) to find one that he likes and that helps him maintain a healthy weight and control shedding. This one does it all.

    My cats say maybe

    By on

My cats only eat it when they are extremely hungry. I like to feed my cats in meals, and wait for them to finish to make sure the fat one doesn’t go to the other one’s bowl. This ruins the system. It seems healthy though

    Undecided at this time

    By on

I mixed Wellness with current food, The cats picked around the Wellness pieces. It has taken several days but they are finally eating Wellness. We have 7 cats eating Wellness at this time. Time will tell if any of them start to maintain a healthy weight.

Lost weight but increased ammonia smell.

    By on

My car is very picky. She loves Redford sensitive stomach but I needed to have delivery. Store clerk pointed me to this one to help hair ball due to omega 6 & 9 and it's better ingredients. She eats it, has lost a pound, but never before has the cat box smelled so strong of ammonia! If I can't tolerate the stench, and clean everyday, then this will have to "go".

    Too Rich For Her

    By on

My cat seemed to love the flavor. Transitioning her to this food caused looser stools the more of the product she ingested. She did lose weight, but only due to diarrhea. The food seemed too rich for her.
