Transition Instructions

The best way to transition onto a new food is to gradually introduce the food by mixing it with the old diet. Mixing the food will allow the pet to acclimate to the new taste and not overindulge on the new food. When food transition is not an option, there are a few ways to ensure a good transition: • Feed multiple, smaller volume meals. This will decrease the likelihood of over-consumption and provide for a more consistent, firm stool. • Add clean warm water to the food to help soften it. • Add a digestive aid such a boiled brown rice or sugar-free canned pumpkin

What is the shelf life of Wellness Natural Pet Food?

Wellness dry foods have an expiration of 18 months from date of manufacture. Wellness canned foods have an expiration of 3 years from date of manufacture. Dog & cat plastic cups have an expiration of 2 years from date of manufacture.

What does "natural" pet food mean?

Natural means we use ingredients that are derived from plants, animals and minerals in our recipes and that Wellness pet food contains no artificial preservatives or colors.

How long can I store an opened can of Wellness wet food in the refrigerator?

If the canned food is well covered or sealed from the surrounding environment, the food should last up to 3 - 4 days. It is advised to consume before this time. The storage conditions and general hygiene of the refrigerator, as well as how long the food has sit out exposed will have determining effects on the safe storage of the canned diets.

Is all of your wet food packaging BPA-free?

A. All of our plastic cups and cans, with the exception of our 12.5 oz and 13.2 oz cans, are BPA-free. We are updating our 12.5 oz and 13.2 oz can sizes to BPA-Free lining's, and expect this transition to start June, 2017. We will be sure to update our consumers once this transition is finished.

Why do your products sometimes vary in size, shape, color, texture or aroma?

Wellness products are natural, and as a result, you may experience product that looks slightly different in texture, color, shape, aroma and consistency from time to time. This is a function of natural products in general, but also raw material fluctuations and the manufacturing process. Please be assured that even though the product may look different from batch to batch, its superior nutritional value, palatability and safety does not change. For more information on the consistency of our natural canned pet food, please see, How Wellness Natural Canned Food is Made.

Why are some Guaranteed Analysis (GA) levels minimums and others maximums? Do you choose how to list them?

Minimum and maximum claims for each nutrient are established by AAFCO. The only necessary claims a pet food must make are for Crude Protein, Fat, Fiber, and Moisture.* Protein is always a minimum claim* Fat is always a minimum claim* Fiber is always a maximum claim* Moisture is always a maximum claimWhile these are the only nutrients mandated by AAFCO to carry min/max claims, ash may voluntarily be listed, but must be listed as a maximum guarantee. Any vitamins, minerals or live microorganisms (probiotics) may be labeled with a minimum guarantee. We're proud to be one of the only pet food manufacturers who are able to include guaranteed levels of probiotics on our dry food recipes. Probiotics can help improve digestion and immune system function.

THEY (9) LOVE IT. I am glad I tried some new and healthier food for them. They got a little bored with the friskies and fancy feast but have to take it slow, it has to be finished first. Oh ya, who is running the house?

This is your traditional cat food. The large cans, the moist patties with just a little bit of sauce, several flavors. Both my cats like this canned food and one of them is quite fussy.

  • Dented Cans

    By on

I was thrilled to receive my of case of Wellness canned cat food so quickly however i was not thrilled at the condition of the cans. 11 cans out of the 30 were dented. I would never choose to buy dented cans at the pet store so the amount of money saved, .29cents per can was not really worth it. The case was boxed within another box and the other 2 items i ordered were in good condition. so the case of food was packed separately so obviously whoever packed it knew they were giving cans that were not in good condition. I have enclosed a photo, not sure if you can see the dents but I don't think I will order those again. not happy.

  • What a mess

    By on

The products I ordered are great. It's the way they treated my credit card that was irritating. I had multiple charges on my card which alerted my bank. They had a total of five holds on my card for three items ordered. It took a week after I received my items for the charges to drop off. It held up my available credit which was maddening and the topper of it all, my bank canceled my card due to possible fraud. So not happy I had to wait for another card due to your companies policies of holds. It was explained why it was done, but I still find it unnecessary and for this, I will never order from you again.

  • My cats love it!

My cats seem healthier since I've had them on this food. Two of the cats had dandruff and that has completely disappeared. Their hair is softer too. They eat it like it's going out of style.

My kitty, Aloysius, loves this food. The only complaint is that it is a bit pricey, but it's good quality, so it's worth it.

  • They love it, NOW!

    By on

As Bird reviewed, my cats did not take to this variety at first. In fact, I was ready to contact Chewy because they are very helpful when you order different food that your kids do not like. It appears the introduction to something other than just chicken took a few days and NOW they love it. Some may feel it is expensive. However, I feel they are worth it and recommend trying it.

The Bengal Brothers have diarrhea. They like some flavors better than others. The litter box never smelled worse.
