How long can you keep an opened can in the refrigerator? My cat doesn’t eat that much
Answer by ChewyOct 07, 2021
Answer here...If the canned food is well covered or sealed from the surrounding environment, the food should last up to 3-4 days. It is advised to consume before this time. The storage conditions and general hygiene of the refrigerator, as well as how long the food has sit out exposed will have determining effects on the safe storage of the canned diets.

Are all of the wellness wet cat food made without Carrageenan?
Answer by ChewySep 03, 2020

Good food but...

This was the other favorite of my three cats. The cans I received were by and large intact/not dented but the larger cans of this flavor (this was not an issue when I bought some 5.5oz cans from a different store) have a very thick layer of slimy gelatin on top. I don't necessarily care because my cats eat it and it seems pretty natural but my concern is that the food is poorly mixed and I have no way of controlling which cat receives the gelatin. One of my three is very old and I want her to eat a well balanced food to keep her as healthy as possible.

Cats don't like this

I have bought the small cans and my cats loved it but these big cans I've tried feeding every day for a week and they lick it for a little bit and walk away. It is very dry so I have tried adding a little water and then I tried adding chicken broth and they are still not eating it.

Hypothyroidism

Ive been buying this brand for a decade now but will be switching permanently. My 13 year old cat has been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, which has been linked to canned wet food. This is all he has ever eaten. (Untreated this can cause an early death)

Wellness Turkey grain-free canned cat food

Two of four cats ate a portion of it and walked away. The other two didn't even try it. Had it down for a week without them getting interested. Seems a bit gummy (like a jelly base and without much substance). Won't buy again. SEPA

Cat Likes It

Tabby cat had become a finicky eater but definitely likes this food. He eats plenty now and his health has markedly improved. Would I recommend to a friend? Since cats seem to react so differently, who knows. I would recommend that you give it a try. My guy likes it very much.

Kitty loves it

It took me a while to find quality food that she will eat but finally found a winner along with the Chicken Dinner.

Picky cat approved

My cat has been with me for a year, eating almost exclusively Friskies. Thought I would try getting him something new. I have never seen him scarf down food as quickly as he did wellness. I have also never seen him inhale an entire nights worth of food in one sitting, which he did with this food. I always thought he was a grazer, nibbling a bite or two every hour, but guess not when the right meal comes along. This food is also very healthy to boot. I am concerned that he and my wallet will never go back.

Made All 3 Cats Sick Recently

All 3 of our healthy indoor cats became sick last week and the only common denominator was this food. They have been eating this for over a year with no problems, but I have noticed differences in smell, color and texture in the last couple of batches. Last week all three cats started vomiting and would no longer eat. They are all very enthusiastic eaters, so this was highly unusual. We have no accessible poisons or toxins, everyone stays indoors, and we don't feed them anything else. This food was the only common denominator that we or our vet could find. It took them 5 days and a huge vet bill to start eating again after anti-nausea injections and an appetite stimulant. As another review mentioned, the cans have also not contained the full advertised weight recently (I weigh everyone's food to make sure they stick to their diets!). I suspect they are having supply chain and/or quality control issues.

Stay away from the Chicken with Salmon

My latest shipment was a case of Wellness Turkey pate and Wellness Chicken and Salmon. The Turkey was fine. The can of Chicken with Salmon I opened had what I feel was an excessive amount of bone matter. Not sure if if was salmon bone or chicken bone. There was so much of it, both tiny pieces and small pieces, I threw it away. My cats are older and have sensitive stomachs. I don't want to cause any digestive issues by feeding them bone fragments. If the manufacturer thinks bone provides vital nutrients needed by cats, they need to grind the bones far more finely. Won't purchase the Chicken & Salmon again.
