Transition Instructions

This food is formulated for adult, non-reproducing cats over one year old as kittens and pregnant or nursing mothers have special nutritional requirements. It is important to slowly transition your cat from his/her current diet as it takes a few days for the body to adapt to new nutrient levels. To transition, gradually mix in the new food over a 5 - 7 day period, increasing the amount of Wellness each day, so that you are feeding 100% Wellness® CORE® by day 7.

CORE is highly palatable so your cat may tend to eat more of this food. Watch initially to see if you need to adjust regular eating patterns. Give your cat access to clean, cool fresh water at all times and feed Wellness® CORE® wet food in combination whenever possible, to increase the level of water in your cat's diet. Nutrition is the foundation of wellbeing, but be sure to give your cat plenty of love, exercise and see your veterinarian regularly!

  • A winner for my 2 cats!

    By on

I switched over to Wellness core as one of my cats was vomiting and my vet suggested Wellness as one of the brands to try. They were already on the Wellness wet food and transitioned them over to Wellness core dry food from Royal Canin. 1 cat in particular tends to be very fussy but he loves this food. One of things I noticed about my Burmese cat was how much more shiny his coat was looking and no vomiting since the switch over!. I highly recommend wellness core. My puppy is on the dog version and seems to be a hit in our household! I had read many reviews recommending this food and glad I switched over for the health of my cats! The wet food is also fantastic the cats eat every last bit!

  • Not quite sure

    By on

I rescued a 2 yr old cat with ribs showing and teeth worse than my 15 year old cats. Just horrible nutrition or lack of I guess. I did a lot of research on every type of grain free kibble. Wellness has everything I wanted. But she really does NOT like the taste! I added less and less of her old chow into the Wellness over three whole months. Now we start bag two without the fatty old chow and she acts like she will starve before eating it. I supplement with wet food but want her to be content with this for the price. Her fur, weight, everything has improved quickly but I may stop buying. I wish there was a way to get samples of some of these items.

  • Good ingredients, smelly food, possible link to crystals?, lower carbs

    By on

I've been mixing this food with another brand for a few months now for my 4 cats - 1 male and 3 females. I chose this because it is a good brand and this particular formula supposedly has a lower amount of carbs compared to other dry foods. A very recent vet visit discovered my male cat has crystals in his urine (struvite). I started googling the foods I give them and found quite a few hits that mention this food and crystals. The other brand did not produce any results. I also have a friend who has had her cat on that brand (not wellness) for a few years with no issues. Disclaimer...The wellness brand does have 3x as many reviews as the alternate food so it is more likely the topic could come I've been mixing this food with another brand for a few months now for my 4 cats - 1 male and 3 females. Disclaimer...The wellness brand does have 3x as many reviews as the alternate food so it is more likely the topic could come up. But if you add in forum posts and google hits and I'm at least concerned about a possible link. If there is a link I would assume it is more complicated than than "the food causes crystals" and is dependent on a cat's biology so I doubt this is a factor for everyone. I also know "bad" reviews stand out more but I wanted to post this info just in case. All that being said, the only issue I had with this food previously was the smell. The food has a very fishy smell to it. My mom doesn't really notice it but I have a more sensitive nose so it bothers me. I put up with it because of the lower carb factor. I think it was supposed to be around 11%? Even if it was higher it was definitely under 30%. I do like the design of the packaging for the large bags since they reseal easily. The other brand I buy is a pain to close the bag. 3 of my 4 cats really like this food and the one who doesn't is just picky. … more

  • Wellness Core in good for cats' body's core

    By on

I like this product because it is lower in carbohydrates than many other kibbles. I would like to be able to feed my 5 cats only canned wet food, but a couple are kibble addicts. It has been a challenge getting them to eat the Core because of the small size of the kibbles and I have to mix the Core with another products larger kibbles. I wish Core made the kibbles a little larger in size.

  • switching for health

    By on

We're integrating Wellness CORE ever so slowly with the dry food we've used for years. The ingredients of the old food can't come close to those in Wellness and independent reviewers rate it very highly, hence the switch. All I can say at this point is that the cats are eating as usual and not objecting to the new food. I'll be glad when they're done with the old food and only on Wellness.

  • 4 cats and none of them will eat this!

    By on

I have 2 indoor cats and 2 outdoor, not one of them will eat this! They try to cover it like they are covering their cat litter. I tried mixing it with their other food-nope. What a waste of money this was. I was hopeful since two have very dry skin

  • Wellness Core for my cat

    By on

I switched my Maine Coon cat from a prior food to this grain free Wellness Core. He loves it and I'm happy to feed him something so good for him. It's higher end at a price I can still afford so we're both happy.

  • High protein and good ingredients

This has the best ingredients of the high protein dry foods that I have found. My cats eat mostly wet food, but I supplement with this.

  • Cat loves it!

    By on

I'll be honest, anything from Wellness, I will purchase. My cat loves this dry food. I have it so that she's free feeding from it and let me tell you, it's depleting quickly. I feed her this as well as the 1/4 of Wellness core canned foods twice a day. Her coat is nice and shiny. She was about 6 lbs at 2 years old when I picked her up. Will visit the vet in 2 weeks, but she's gained a healthy amount of weight.
