Stuff stinks pretty bad but it’s got literal raw freeze dried fish so what do you expect. Great for fur and dogs with poultry sensitivity. We ran out and didn’t have this bag available locally so we grabbed the same white fish wellness but without the raw bits. We noticed that after the same 18lb bag our dog put on more weight and was a bit more tired than usual.
Decided to give this a try as I was buying wellness simple before and then having to buy a freeze dried topper since my dogs are super picky! However, only one of the two dogs likes the freeze dried salmon on top and she eats that first. Then the older dog can have the dry food. Think we will be switching back to the wellness simple again when this bag is gone. Its a great food though, both dogs love the kibble, way too much freeze dried salmon. (Is there such thing as too much)
This food stinks so bad that I will absolutely never buy it again. I thought that this would be good for my dogs skin but it just made it work. On top of that it smells like rotten fish.
I tried this as a change of pace for my 2 year old Rottie. She loves it. My previous Rotties picked the freeze dried fish out of the food and spit it out on the floor and wouldn’t eat the freeze dried fish. But Schatzi eats every last crumb of kibble and freeze dried fish.
This isn’t for small dogs or even medium and it’s mostly dry food not much raw and smells horrible.
They seem excited when it’s time to eat!
Wellness core normally comes with the frozen fish chunks and in this order there are none but the bag indicates there should be.
I thought I would try something different for dry dog food because two of my dogs really pass some stinky smells. I got this Wellness dry dogwood to give it a try. I mixed it with the old dry food to get them used to it and try to keep down the usual loose stools when changing foods. They nosed through the old stuff to get to this new food. They really like it. Gotta say, when they first started eating it there was loose stools but it is gone now. The are also eating wet dog food in cans but they don't hesitate to let me know when their bowl of dry food is empty. So far, so good.
I usually buy Core RawRev turkey but accidently ordered this food. I am so happy that I did because amazingly both of my dogs WILL eat it. The food does smell like fish but I guess that is why they love it. My dogs are allergic to chicken and beef and this is the only food I found that doesn't have either someplace hidden in the ingredients . I only wish they made if for small breeds, my Maltese can chew it but he does have slight difficulty because the pieces are larger than the small breed food
I was feeding the Wellness Core RawRev Wild Game, but my husky was getting tired of that flavor and frequently turning up his snoot at meal times. Also, I try to avoid/limit chicken products because he may have a mild sensitivity if he has too much, and this variety is completely chicken free. I also avoid sweet potatoes and high starch/sugar foods because he is more prone to developing yeast infections in his paws & ears when he eats starchy/sugary foods. He is completely yeast-free on the Wellness Core grain-free formulas. He loves this flavor; fish, particularly salmon is his favorite. And this version seems to have a bit more of the freeze-dried raw bits than the others, and they are well mixed in the bag so they last from first to last scoop. This flavor is slightly higher in calories, so I also feed a smidge less, so the bag lasts a tiny bit longer for the same price. Great quality and value, dog loves it.
