Transition Instructions

The best way to transition your pet onto a new food is to gradually introduce the food by mixing it with the old diet (starting by mixing 90% old with 10% new and increase new by 10% each day until the bowl is full of only Wellness). Mixing the food will allow your pet to acclimate to the new taste and not overindulge on the new food.

When food transition is not an option, there are a few ways to ensure a good transition:

Feed multiple, smaller volume meals. This will decrease the likelihood of over-consumption and provide for a more consistent, firm stool. Add clean warm water to the food to help soften it. Add a digestive aid such a boiled brown rice or sugar-free canned pumpkin.

  • Picky Dumpster Cat

    By on

I have a 2 year old cat that was picked up at the dump 2 years ago, almost dead. After nursing her back to health and a $500 vet bill, she has become a loved family member. I finally found Wellness Core food for my super picky Carin Terrier - he LOVES it!!!! I thought that because he liked it the cat would like the Core Raw food - WRONG!!!!! I mixed it with her old food trying to hide the change, but she just looked at the bowl and then looked at me as if to say “Have you gone crazy?” So, never think because a dog is crazy about a brand of food - does not the your cat will be! WE have gone back to Instinct and she is a happy camper!

  • My Old Male Cat Loves This Food

    By on

My old guy loves this cat food. He is 14 and I was worried about him eating less and less. The core brand is the only one he wouldn't throw up over the years and he loves the freeze dried turkey liver that comes in it. He picks those pieces out first. I don't do wet food at all.

I use this to sprinkle on top of their other dry food as a little treat for my cats.

  • Jury Out at this time

    By on

As all cat owners already know, they are finicky!!! Well she sometimes likes it & other times she leaves it til later. I think it will be a "getting used to" period & she'll eat it on a regular basis.

  • Definitely not a winner

    By on

Have 6 cats. Was looking for a quality high protein dry food. None of them would eat it. Tried the air dried variety a few months back with same results. Unfortunately Wellness brand didn't make the cut.

  • Both my cats hate it

    By on

They will only eat the freeze-dried liver and there isn't that much of it in proportion to the dry kibble. I would like to return for a refund.
