    Toppers as a trend

By Critterwrangler on Aug 14, 2018

I have mixed feelings about toppers. They let the manufacturers off the hook, since they don't have to be complete & balanced. So with far fewer ingredients, the profit margine is no doubt primo. On the other hand, if you are trying to sort out diet challenges for one of your felines, or have one I have mixed feelings about toppers. On the other hand, if you are trying to sort out diet challenges for one of your felines, or have one who simply can't tolerate a WHOLE LOT of stuff, then these foods with only 4 or 5 ingredients can be a godsend. It means supplementing with other things in order to get the necessary nutrition, but this definitely helped keep weight on my new kitten while I tried to sort out his allergies. … more

    Off to a good start

White meat chicken shreds. Way too much liquid to meat ratio. More like soup. Cat likes the flavor, however I end up tossing all the liquid.

  • Cat with cancer-wanted simple ingredients

    By on

Peanut was recently diagnosed with intestinal lymphoma. I tried this Wellness Core wet cat food, in hopes of finding a easy digestible wet food snack. All 3 Cats loved purina shreds.. but wanted something with better quality. Puking has gone 90% away!! I Agree that packaging kinda sucks, BUT thinking it’s better for the environment and a scissors works perfect to open. My cats love all the flavors, minus the shrimp pieces.

  • Wonderful product for picky kitties

    By on

My extremely picky eater gobbled this up. He never goes back to finish his leftovers, but he did for this! I took off one star for the packaging - when I opened it, the broth splashed everywhere. Luckily it's just chicken broth, so not stinky or gross, but inconvenient all the same. Highly recommended, but be careful when opening!

  • Poor packaging. Good food.

While the contents of the packet looks/smells great , there was no way to tear it open without getting squirted with broth! I've ordered it again however but will try scissors next time!

My cats really love this food. Would have given it 5 stars but the portions are very small.

  • Great option for cat's hydration!

    By on

Pros - My cats licked the broth right up which is great when I want to make sure they need to be hydrated, when they seem bored with water or not feeling well. It's a perfect size for one cat or share for 2. Chewy had the best price! Ingredients you feel good about giving your fur babies. Cons - I haven't figured out how to open it without spilling it yet, even with sissors so do so over their bowl and use something pointy to get all the chicken out of the corners. If for some reason they don't eat the chichen right away, it shrivels up and drys out kinda fast so sometimes they will still eat it, sometimes they don't.

  • Great for hydration but....

    By on

My cat laps this up and that makes me happy because he doesn't drink enough water. My only negative criticism is the packaging design. Wellness needs to rethink it. When you open the package, the broth squirts out everywhere, and I mean everywhere. I now only snip off the corner of the pouch, pour the broth into a bowl, then open the pouch the rest of the way to get the meat out. Also, keep in mind this is not a complete meal. It is only meant as a topper for a complete meal or you could use it to add hydration to kibble.
