Fed alone: for cats weighing 4-10 lbs feed 2.5 - 4.5 pouches per day. For cats weighing 11-18 lbs, feed 4.5 - 6 pouches per day. Adjust as needed.

Fed with Wellness dry: reduce dry by 1/8 cup for every 1 pouch wet. Best at room temperature. Refrigerate unused.

Low Phosphorus Food Cat Actually Enjoys

    By on Top 500 Contributor

My cat with kidney disease has gained more of an appetite since starting a new medication. Unfortunately lately I seem to be throwing away more of her prescription food than she is actually eating. She'll eat prescription food reluctantly but bugs have become a problem in the summer months. I can't leave her food sitting out for hours and she isn't much on reheated meals either. I was looking for something lower in phosphorus she liked. Luckily she seems to love this stuff! I would rather have her on the prescription diet but this seems to be the next best thing. I will say I find pouches a bit more messy than cans but I have no problem getting the product out. I just squeeze it from the bottom up like a toothpaste tube. The other thing I've noticed is a lack of vomiting. This may be due more to the medication but I haven't had to clean up any messes since these changes. … more

    good, just knead the packet!!

    By on

Our cats like these pouches, and as others have mentioned, I love that this food is lower in phosphorus than most others out there. A few reviewers have said the morsels are too big- and I agree. And a few have said it is hard to get the food out of the pouches. Here is how I work around those things.... First, I just knead the pouch for a minute (before opening) and smush up the chunks. That’s the nice thing about the pouches vs a can, you can mush up the chunks easily by kneading the pouch. I also take a spoonful or two of warm water, and after opening, I stir it into the pouch and then pour it the food out. The little extra water thins the food just enough where it comes out of the pouch Our cats like these pouches, and as others have mentioned, I love that this food is lower in phosphorus than most others out there. Exactly what I needed

I have a cat with CKD, and keeping weight on her is tough. I started to supplement her diet with a pouch of the Wellness morsels, and she hoovers it down along with her dry food (Yes I know dry food isn't optimal in a general sense, but you do what you have to do to keep them eating, and to get a bit of weight back on them.) and has put on a little weight as a result. This food is allowing me to give her the best possible life for however long she's with me, and I'm grateful. Why did I choose it? Because it's lower in phosphorus and protein than most other non-prescription diets. My cats love this!

Moist and a good portion to put a little extra on top of their food. I use this as a supplement because it brings moist and taste to their food

    Good quality product

    By on Top 250 Contributor

Not sure why but my cat won't even eat the gravy out of this. It's a flavor he typically likes too. It's for adult cats only so can't try this with my kitten. My other cats aren't thrilled with this either- hit or miss but mainly a miss

    He loves this stuff.

    By on

My 17 year old cat is in the beginning stages of kidney failure and I'm not sold on the formulas that the prescription cat food companies market. The ingredients are less than superior for an inflated price IMO (why even make dry kibble for a cat with kidney disease!) so I did a fair amount of research looking for wet food with a lower than average amount of phosphorus and decided to try this formula. He loves it! I add a little additional water to it and he eats the entire pouch in one sitting and licks the bowl clean.

    morsels mashed with pumpkin

    By on

My cat likes, not loves, these morsels. He is happier when I mash them and add a little bit of pumpkin. It makes a difference!

    Food for the finicky

    By on

We have 2 cats, brother & sister. The male will eat almost anything while the female will eat almost nothing. After months of trying more than 20 different brands, flavors, pate, chunks, slices, gravies etc. I gave these Wellness packets a shot. Success! She not only likes it she practically climbs the walls at dinner time. The shreds are a hit also. I wish this came in cans as the packets are kind of a hassle to get the food out of and the size is too small for 2 cats where as a 5 oz can is just right for 2.
