Recipe Change

As others have noted, the minced chicken formula has recently changed, despite what the company says. It is a different color and texture. It has a different smell, and no chunks of food in gravy. It is a pate consistency and my cats absolutely will not eat it. I contacted the company and they claim the recipe has not changed, but it clearly has based on the number of reviews noting the changes in the food. It's a shame because it used to be my cats' favorite food and it's not easy to transition them to something new. I wish they would go back to their old formula.

It's changed. Made my cats sick. Time to switch

As others have said and posted pictures of, there was a significant change in this cat food recently. At first I was relieved that my cats would still eat it, but now (after a few days) they're both having GI issues (vomiting, diarrhea). I don't know if it's just a transition to the new formula or if there's something in there that is causing this. Regardless, I will be switching them. Perhaps all the cats that refused to eat it are smarter than my cats are... The price for this food is skyrocketing, and it's clearly no longer the premium cat food it used to be. Also I saw some replies from Wellness (perhaps it was on a different product or a different site as I don't see them now). They claimed they expanded the manufacturing to Thailand to avoid shortages, but the formula remains the same. THIS IS FALSE. Comparing the two cans side by side there are very obvious differences. These can be seen by looking at the food (see pictures in another review) as well as by comparing the nutritional information- now there's less protein. Very disappointed. I tried to hang on to Wellness for so long despite the high cost. Now I wish I switched long ago.

Yuck - the formula has changed

Oscar has eaten this food and loved for 15 years. He has always preferred it to his kibble and gobbled up the small can in one go. Now, he eats a couple bites and walks away and never finishes it.

My cats wont eat the new formula

The new cans after production was changed to overseas have no gravy and my cats want nothing to do with it. Something is different about the formula so I will have to find a new food that my cats will eat. Which as cat owners know is not easy.

Cats no longer eat

Cats used to gobble this up but will not touch it now. Very disappointing as this is expensive food and I have a whole case that will not get eaten. Not even worth 1 star.

Recipe changed, cat won't eat it now

Like others have mentioned, the recipe was changed in the last couple of months. What they label as 'minced' is actually a pate. My cat used to love this food, she won't touch it now.

Formula + manufacturer change, cat won’t eat

I recently bought a 48 pack of the Minced Chicken (thought I should stock up cause my cat was loving this so much!) but unfortunately I opened the case to a new odd can size and different texture than I was used to. My cat Waffle would touch the new formula, and even when I tried to mix 1/4 of a can into the old formula he turned his nose up at it. After reading the ingredient label I also noticed that the manufacturing location had changed from USA to Thailand. It’s a bummer cause my kitty has some GI conditions so it can be hard to transition him to different foods, but I don’t feel comfortable keeping him on Wellness foods due to inconsistent formulas. Chewy was kind enough to refund me for the cases I bought, so I’m gonna use that to search for something new.

Different Recipe Depending on Where it's Made

My cats love the chunks of chicken in light gravy, which looks just like the picture on the can, but lately we've been getting cans with a different kind of mixture in them. The cans that are silver on the bottom and say they're from Thailand hold the recipe that my cats won't eat because there's no gravy and it's more like a pate. The cans that are distinctly gold on the top and bottom and say they're made in the USA have cat food with gravy in them and the food actually looks like the picture on the can. Unfortunately, we're going to have to switch to another brand.

Dissapointed in product change

Like others have said, my two cats loved Wellness Minced Chicken and have enjoyed it for the past three years. With the recipe change and shift from USA > Thailand manufacturing, one of my cats no longer finishes her food. The can is also more difficult to open and scoop food out of (it gets stuck behind the rim in a way it didn’t used to). Such a bummer. I was a big advocate of Wellness and now am scared to order other flavors in case they have also changed manufacturers. Looks like I’ll be switching to a different brand. I think Wellness has strong brand loyalty so I wish they had done more to test this product change and engage with their audience before making a major update.

formula has changed

I have bought this food a number of times and my cats have always liked it. The food looks different, and neither of my cats will touch it. Forty four dollars down the drain. Beware - this is not the same food.
