To Feed as Primary Meal: Divide the daily amount listed into 2 daily servings.

Combination Feeding: If feeding in combination with dry food, replace each 1/4 cup of dry food with 1/4 cup of Make It Fresh. Note calories and adjust other food and snacks accordingly to maintain ideal weight.

Every dog is a little different, so optimal feeding amounts may vary by age, size, activity level, breed and environment. Please use feeding guidelines as an initial recommendation and adjust as needed.

Transition Instructions

The best way to transition onto a new food is to gradually introduce the food by mixing it with the old diet. This is particularly important when the new food is much tastier than the old, as is the case with Wellness. Mixing the food will allow the dog to acclimate to the new taste and not overindulge on the new food

When food transition is not an option, there are a few ways to ensure a good transition:

  • Feed multiple, smaller volume meals. This will decrease the likelihood of over-consumption and provide for a more consistent, firm stool. This is an especially good option for puppies and senior dogs.

  • Add clean warm water to the food to help soften it.

  • Add a digestive aid such a boiled brown rice or sugar-free canned pumpkin

  • Puppy Loves it - I’m not sure...

    By on

I bought this to use as a rotating topper to keep Huckleberry the dachshund interested in his food now that Wellness Trufood has changed their formula. I guess maybe I was unprepared for the texture of freeze dried food. While there are chunks, the bulk of the bag is basically a powder. Puppy does love it, but I’m not sure if I’ll buy it again.

  • Far too much chickpea flour filler

    By on

I like that this mixes up quickly, but my dog really isn't into it. He's a former street dog and is normally not at all picky, so it says something that he'll wait for hours until forcing himself to eat this. He looks like he's being punished when I put it down. There's just a LOT of chickpea flour in it, which I think is a really pathetic way to bulk up this food. Dogs don't need chickpeas to survive, they need meat! I'll be buying another food to mix with this one so the money doesn't go to waste.

  • Like oatmeal, for dogs!

    By on

Yes, this stuff is expensive. But I would much rather spend my money on a dog food that has ingredients I can understand than a dry kibble that might be doing half the job. My dog loves it like oatmeal, however, he's 13 and getting lazier with chewing so he doesn't mind it mushy. My pup also has had some sensitivities in the past and this doesn't seem to bother him one bit. I paid more on here however, than I could find in a store, so I won't be buying off of here for this again, which is why I only gave it 4 stars.

  • Good quality food

    By on Top 250 Contributor

I bought this food to try out on my small dogs, two Chinese Cresteds and one 5 pound Chihuahua. One Crested is toothless at 13 1/2 years old. The other two are 12 and 11 and they have a lot of missing teeth. I was hoping they would be able to easily eat the food based on the picture of the food on the bag. The picture makes the food look like the pieces were easy to pick up and eat. Unfortunately, the food is nothing like the picture. The food is more like a thick mush that none of my dogs could eat even though they loved the smell of it. I tried adding more water only to have the water drunk and the food smooshed down at the bottom of the bowl. • Outstanding Product for Travel and Home

    By on

Excellent nutritional product which is eagerly eaten with no hesitation. Immediately all doggie off-gassing stopped. Packs light for Domestic and International Travel. No delays with TSA Clearance. A blessing not to carry 50 pounds of Dog Food for 4 week trips in the European Union. European Veterinary friends were greatly impressed. A sincere blessing for both dog and myself.

  • not the greatest

    By on

The smell of the food once mixed with water is awesome. But the consistency is like oatmeal and my snooty dogs ate it but had a hard time getting it out of the bowl. So unless your bowls have a grips on the bottom they will have a hard time eating this food. I even mixed it with their dry food and it did not make a difference. So will not buy it anymore can't afford to waste it especially since it is pretty pricey.

  • Disappointing

I was disappointed with this dog food. It has chunks of turkey that once hydrated are rather tough to chew.

  • Perfect Tasty Topper

    By on

My GSD Jordan loved this as a topper on his hard kibbles its great because you can add as much water as you'd like to make it a richer meal. He actually loved it when i put more water and poured it over his kibbles. Ate his entire bowl and had not itchiness afterwards. He has a lot of allergies and this suits him well.

  • Something healthy for my lab!

    By on

This food is easily prepared and my dog loves it. It smells kinda good too! Haha. Additionally I’m confident giving this food to my dog because it’s free of grains and unnecessary fillers that aren’t healthy for him. I wish it came in a bigger bag but I thought this was the perfect treat for my lab on Thanksgiving. He had his on turkey dinner! He licked the bowl clean!

  • Raw food that is easy to prepare and my dogs love it

    By on

This is a good quality food that will not break the bank, which is important in a multi-dog household. The food smells good and my 3 dogs lick their bowls clean in record time. I like the good quality ingredients and the absence of cheap fillers, grains and nasties. Two thumbs, er, paws up!
