Description

Help keep your home smelling fresh and clean with Weruva's Natural Quick Clumping Cat Litter. This unique littler is made with hinoki wood, also known as Japanese Cyprus, plus green tea! Both of these ingredients are included to help stop the growth of bacteria and odor. This quick-clumping formula is clay-free, grain-free and has a low-dust content, so you and your feline friend can breathe easy. And for an added benefit, it's also formulated with a fresh aroma to help keep your home smelling great!

Key Benefits
  • Hinoki wood may help resist humidity, which can help stop the growth of mold and bacteria.
  • Green Tea contains catechins, which are compounds that help naturally stop the growth of bacteria and odor.
  • Weruva’s Natural Quick Clumping Cat Litter is both clay-free and grain-free.
  • Low-dust formula helps you and your feline friend breathe with ease.
  • Formulated with a fresh aroma, to help keep your home smelling clean.
Precautions

Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling used cat litter, as cat feces may contain Toxoplasma gondii—a parasite that can cause toxoplasmosis. Pregnant or nursing women, as well as children and anyone with a weakened immune system, should avoid handling used cat litter. Always handle litter in a ventilated area to avoid inhalation. Keep contents and packaging out of reach of children and pets. Seek medical help in case of accidental ingestion.

Instructions

Start with 2-4 inches of litter in the box. We recommend filling on the higher side for multi-cat households. Scoop at least once a day, and the more cats using the box, the more frequently we recommend scooping. After removing waste, refill the litter box as necessary to maintain the 2-4 inch level. Maintaining levels helps with clumping and scooping.

Additional Instructions

  • Only dispose of used cat litter in trash. Do not flush, bury or dispose of it outdoors, in gutters or storm drains to avoid environmental contamination.
  • Not for internal use. Not meant for use as compost or as a traction aid.
  • Store in a cool, dry place. Product filled by weight; some settling may occur.
Transition Instructions

Some cats may adjust to Weruva Hinoki & Green Tea Litter without issue, and some cats will need some time. If you believe your cat may need some time, sprinkle as little as a thin layer atop your current litter or replace as much as a third of your current litter. Once your cat begins to use the litter, you can gradually increase the amount of Weruva litter. And when you feel the time is right, empty the litter box completely and refill with Weruva only.

FAQ

Why Hinoki Wood and Green Tea?

Bacteria are often the culprit when it comes to litter box odors. Hinoki Wood and Green Tea team up to suppress bacteria and odor naturally. Hinoki Wood – Hinoki Wood, or Japanese Cypress, has long been a prized wood in Japan for the construction of temples, shrines and even hot tubs due its resistance to humidity. By curbing humidity, Hinoki naturally suppresses the growth of mold and bacteria which in turn helps control odor. Green Tea – Green Tea contains catechins, compounds with antioxidant properties. The catechins naturally help suppress the growth of bacteria and odor.

Is Hinoki Wood a Sustainable Resource?

We love mother earth just as we love our pets, so sustainability and stewardship of our resources are paramount. To ensure the responsible use of Hinoki, the wood we use is a salvaged by-product of other industries.

    Weruva Wood Litter

By MyCat on Feb 7, 2021

My cat took to it right away and she did her business accordingly with no issues. On opening the bag, no strong scent, I was expecting the smell of a forest, lol... The individual size of the litter granule is a normal size and it is soft to the paw. My cat does not like hard type litter or pellets. Also, I was looking for a no pine cat litter, the ingredients on Weruva show no pine. I have a Shih Tzu and it is recommended not to use pine products with this dog breed (please consult with your vet). I will continue to use Weruva because it works for me and my family.

    great litter

By tonkismom on Feb 9, 2021

This is the only litter I buy. It smells great, my cat likes it and uses the box consistently. It's safe with no weird fumes. It clumps well and lasts ... a bag lasts me about 3 weeks. I keep the box very clean. It's flushable though I don't because I'm on septic. It's not full of artificial chemicals... a winner!

    BEST CAT LITTER

By CourtneyR on Jan 29, 2021

Although a little expensive, this is by far the BEST litter i have ever used! There is no bad kitty smell and there is no dust and no tracking—-well, the little bit that may get tracked can easily be picked up—-two or three little litter pieces——-love this stuff! Definitely give it try and see for yourself....

    Been using for years

    By 2CATS on Jan 22, 2021

I have an asthmatic cat and this is the only TRULY low dust, unscented litter I've found. Also very little litter tracking outside the bucket. It is pellets so don't expect it to clump like clay. If that's an issue, then this isn't the litter you'll want to buy.

    Better Than Pine Pellets

By Andrea on Dec 21, 2020

Long post, but I had *just* transitioned my cat to pine litter before discovering Weruva, so I thought I’d share the differences I noticed between the two. SIZE: Weruva pellets are much smaller than pine pellets, and I can use my regular scooper to sift through them. I do have to shake the scooper every time though because some do still get stuck. CLUMPING: Pine pellets dissolve with moisture, while the Weruva litter semi-clumps around the urine. Both are a little more work than you’d have with clay litter but so far I don’t mind taking the little extra time to scoop everything out. DUST: Like pine, the Weruva pellets do have some dust, but neither are nowhere near as bad as clay litter. DUST: Like pine, the Weruva pellets do have some dust, but neither are nowhere near as bad as clay litter. SMELL: I expected my apartment to smell like pine trees when I opened the pine litter, but it felt more reminiscent of a barn or a hamster cage. The Weruva litter is more woodsy and pleasant (to me). ODOR CONTROL: You could definitely tell when my kitty had taken a dump in the pine litter, and sometimes I’d be forced to clean the litter box more than my usual 1x/day to get rid of the smell. The ONLY time I notice when my cat has used the litter box with Weruva is either when I’m cleaning it or standing right over it. TRACKING: I was SO pleased to make the transition from clay to pine and see the tiny pieces of litter disappear from all parts of my apartment. That happiness was erased with Weruva—kitty will shake her paws as she steps out of the box and scatter little pellets all over the floor. The only upside is these pellets are *still* an upgrade from clay as I have yet to find them in odd places like my bed or desk or couch. It’s a pain that they get scattered everywhere but at least it’s confined to the room with her litter box. CAT PREFERENCE: Since my cat had already made the transition to big, clunky pine pellets, I didn’t feel the need to try and slowly introduce the Weruva litter to her. I set a new box of Weruva next to her old litter box with fresh pine pellets and she immediately started using the new litter...and never once touched her pine pellets. The Queen had spoken.............................. TL;DR: I like Weruva more than pine pellets (and 1000x more than clay litter) but can’t give it a full 5 stars because of the price and tracking. My kitty prefers it too, so that says it all. … more

    Disappointed with this litter

By KATHY on Dec 2, 2020

Didn't clump good, crumbles and smells like alfalfa, mixed with old clumping clay litter, but cat didn't want anything to do with it. People at chewy very nice and helpful wouldn't recommend this litter, but would recommend Chewy

    Best litter I have tried!

By Toni on Oct 3, 2020

I don’t usually leave reviews but I felt compelled to review this brand. I have two cats using three litter boxes. This is the first litter that does not stink, even used! The traditional clay litters are too dusty and stick terribly to the box. I only get two weeks out of the crystal kind before they stink. This makes my house smell wonderfully like fresh cut wood! I have only been using it for a week, but there is no odor whatsoever. It is supposed to last 25 days with two cats; we will have to see. So far, I would very highly recommend this for multi- cat households!

    Cats (& humans) like it!

By SakaPets on Jan 3, 2021

Nice naturally clean scent & lasts well. Very little dust. Love that it's made from what would otherwise be compost (safe for the environment).

    Effective odor control

By Kitty on Jan 30, 2021

Trackable, so I use a litter mat. Best odor control of any litter I’ve tried.
