Help keep your home smelling fresh and clean with Weruva's Natural Quick Clumping Cat Litter. This unique littler is made with hinoki wood, also known as Japanese Cyprus, plus green tea! Both of these ingredients are included to help stop the growth of bacteria and odor. This quick-clumping formula is clay-free, grain-free and has a low-dust content, so you and your feline friend can breathe easy. And for an added benefit, it's also formulated with a fresh aroma to help keep your home smelling great!

Key Benefits
  • Hinoki wood may help resist humidity, which can help stop the growth of mold and bacteria.
  • Green Tea contains catechins, which are compounds that help naturally stop the growth of bacteria and odor.
  • Weruva’s Natural Quick Clumping Cat Litter is both clay-free and grain-free.
  • Low-dust formula helps you and your feline friend breathe with ease.
  • Formulated with a fresh aroma, to help keep your home smelling clean.
Precautions

Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling used cat litter, as cat feces may contain Toxoplasma gondii—a parasite that can cause toxoplasmosis. Pregnant or nursing women, as well as children and anyone with a weakened immune system, should avoid handling used cat litter. Always handle litter in a ventilated area to avoid inhalation. Keep contents and packaging out of reach of children and pets. Seek medical help in case of accidental ingestion.

Instructions

Start with 2-4 inches of litter in the box. We recommend filling on the higher side for multi-cat households. Scoop at least once a day, and the more cats using the box, the more frequently we recommend scooping. After removing waste, refill the litter box as necessary to maintain the 2-4 inch level. Maintaining levels helps with clumping and scooping.

Additional Instructions

  • Only dispose of used cat litter in trash. Do not flush, bury or dispose of it outdoors, in gutters or storm drains to avoid environmental contamination.
  • Not for internal use. Not meant for use as compost or as a traction aid.
  • Store in a cool, dry place. Product filled by weight; some settling may occur.
Transition Instructions

Some cats may adjust to Weruva Hinoki & Green Tea Litter without issue, and some cats will need some time. If you believe your cat may need some time, sprinkle as little as a thin layer atop your current litter or replace as much as a third of your current litter. Once your cat begins to use the litter, you can gradually increase the amount of Weruva litter. And when you feel the time is right, empty the litter box completely and refill with Weruva only.

FAQ

Why Hinoki Wood and Green Tea?

Bacteria are often the culprit when it comes to litter box odors. Hinoki Wood and Green Tea team up to suppress bacteria and odor naturally. Hinoki Wood – Hinoki Wood, or Japanese Cypress, has long been a prized wood in Japan for the construction of temples, shrines and even hot tubs due its resistance to humidity. By curbing humidity, Hinoki naturally suppresses the growth of mold and bacteria which in turn helps control odor. Green Tea – Green Tea contains catechins, compounds with antioxidant properties. The catechins naturally help suppress the growth of bacteria and odor.

Is Hinoki Wood a Sustainable Resource?

We love mother earth just as we love our pets, so sustainability and stewardship of our resources are paramount. To ensure the responsible use of Hinoki, the wood we use is a salvaged by-product of other industries.

My cat is used to pellets, I've been using stall bedding pine pellets for over a year. I like to have one litter pan with standard litter in it just in case. This looked interesting so I thought I'd give it a try. Opening the bag it does faintly smell like wood (it is unscented). The pellets are not like the standard pellets, but more like a crumble and probably softer on the paws. I poured it in the litter box while standing and it was very dusty - hint to self put bag closer to box when pouring. My senior cat had no issues using this (cat-not another new one Mom) in fact I think she appreciates the texture of this. The bag states one bag (6.7 lbs) should last one cat one month. I would think this is depending on size of box and how much kitty urinates. It does clump (not rock hard clumps) which is not a problem unless the box is not scooped daily. It also tracks slightly around the box when she jumps out. It is a "product from Japan". As of right now I am happy with this litter - if kitty likes it, I like it. Time will tell how long the one bag will last. … more

    Love this litter

    By on

I think my search for a favorite cat litter has ended. I love that this is a pretty pure product, no horrible fake scents or other ingredients besides the wood and green tea (whatever that's for!). It hardly tracks at all. As for being dust-free-it doesn't claim to be but is almost entirely so. I love the smell of it and it also seems to mask odors pretty well; It also clumps as it should. It's a bit pricey but after trying numerous litters, I'm going to stick with this one for awhile at least....

    My Favorite Cat Litter

    By on

This litter absorbs odor the best of all the varieties of cat litter I have tried over the decades. It tracks but the clean pellets also freshen my vacuum cleaner! There is no kind of cat litter (in my experience) that doesn't track SOME. This litter scoops nicely enough for me, also. It is great for multiple cats though obviously lasts much longer with one or two cats. I use a bit less than one bag per cat per month. 5 stars

    Gross & doesn't last

If you like cat pee soaked newspaper this is the litter for you. Sure it "clumps"... but the urine spreads and then disintegrates as you scoop. Worst natural litter. Sadly much like Weruva food, their litter is marginal at best.

I love this litter but my cat doesn't

    By on

I think that this litter is the best thats out there! It doesn't smell bad and it works good for absorbing urine and clumping making it easy to scoop. Sadly one of my cats does not like this litter. We tried mixing it gradually with the old litter but she will not use it. Our other cats use it just fine! We've decided to keep using the litter in our main litterbox and the one in our bedroom but we also keep the old litter in one of the boxes in our downstairs space where the smell is not as bothersome so that our one cat can go there. She seems content with this solution and our house smells much better!

    Little dust but....

    By on

It doesn’t smell like wood or green tea, hard to describe. Very low dust which is great, clumps well, but the tracking is bad....it looks like the pallet can stick to my cats paws and belly fur and won’t come down after they walk around for a little bit. I constantly find pallet in every room in my apartment....won’t buy again....

Love It, Never Using Anything Else Ever Again!

We have 2 cats. Our oldest is 11 years young (acts like he's 2) and has FIV and a sensitive stomach. And our youngest one has a neurological disorder that causes him to have balance problems. Being in an apartment and having to keep their litter boxes in a large walk in closet area, we desperately needed something that wouldn't smell and didn't have dust and make a huge mess, and our younger cat needs a litter thats light enough for him to be able to shift around without losing his balance. This works amazingly! The smell of this litter itself is great, and the odor control is fantastic! People often walk right by the closet and end up asking "where do you keep your litter boxes?" because We have 2 cats. And the cats took to it really quickly considering how many other kinds we had tried. We had tried feline pine but it just sucked-instead of clumping it would get soggy and just was a pain to deal with, and too heavy for our younger cat to shift around. This stuff clumps up wonderfully and is super easy to clean up, doesn't spray dust everywhere when i scoop, and unlike the stupid tidy cats litter, it doesnt let a ton of clumped up urine cement itself to the bottom of the tray every time my cats pee. Sticking with Weruva litter! … more

    Weruva is AMAZING

We moved into an apartment with our 10 year old special needs cat, Jack (FIV+ and food allergies), and we were struggling to find a good cat litter. Not long after we moved we adopted a kitten so that Jack would have a friend - enter Jaden, a special needs kitten with neurological issues that greatly effects his balance and sight. On top of now wanting something that stops our apartment from smelling like a litter box (especially since we have our litter boxes in our very large walk in closet) we needed something that worked great and was light enough for Jaden to move around, as he would stumble, fall over, and not be able to really dig in the litter box the way cats want to. Due to my allergies and cleanliness, I couldn't do the dust that comes from most litter. At a local pet specialty shop we found Weruva cat litter - and I finally said screw it, we've tried everything else! Since the first day, we decided that we will NEVER use anything but Weruva! Not only does it smell fantastic, but it lasts, it doesn't leave a cloud of dust, the smell doesn't linger in our clothes (which do still hang in the walk in closet where the boxes are kept) and both cats took to using it immediately, with no issues. People usually walk into our 800 square foot apartment with me, my husband, our 5 yr old, and our 2 cats and are AMAZED that we have cats because they don't smell anything from them. Our cat Jack has had breakouts before to different types of litter, and taking him to the vet for hair loss and sores on his feet were the norm - but that has entirely stopped since using Weruva. Jaden has no problem moving the litter around to bury his potty, even with his very limited movement, and even if he falls or stumbles, he doesn't get covered with litter that sticks to him, because the little pellets are light enough to fall off of him easily. Never going to ever use any other kind of litter. It also lasts so much longer and better than other kinds of litter that we have used - and we tried TONS of different kinds! Weruva cat litter has GREATLY improved life: for us and for our boys! … more

Not very good at controlling the smell after use, tracks all over, doesn’t clump very well, very hard to scoop end up tossing the good out with the bad........ I’m moving on!
