Why do I need a Wi-Fi connection?
Whistle 3 is designed to give you the most comprehensive and accurate tracking, and Wi-Fi plays an important role:
- Sets up your device.
- Enables setup of your pet’s safe places.
- Alerts you when your pet has left one of their safe places.
- Preserves battery life while in safe places
Why do I need a subscription plan?
Whistle 3 requires a subscription plan to allow you to track your pet nationwide, 24/7.
When will I select my subscription plan?
You’ll be prompted to select your subscription plan when setting up your device on the Whistle 3 app. Subscription plans start as low as $6.95/month.
Will Whistle 3 only work for certain pets?
Whistle 3 is recommended for any pet above 8lbs.
How long does the battery last?
Whistle 3 can last up to 7 days on a full charge. However, battery life depends on length of time away from Wi-Fi safe places and location tracking requests. The more your pet is away from home, the more it will use up battery life. Luckily, a full recharge only takes 2 hours!
90-Day Limited Warranty.

Love the Idea, wish it worked
By Beth on Jan 23, 2019
We have a dog that likes to run which is how I found Whistle. And while I read other reviews that said it wasn’t reliable I didn’t heed their advice. I decided to write a review in case it helps someone else. Our Whistle typically only updated his location when we plugged it in at night. We drove from Ohio to NY and it took over 36 hours for Whistle to detect he wasn’t home. Sometimes it would notify us he was away from home, which was great minus the fact the notification was based on a location from 8 hours ago and we were indeed at home. It didn’t matter if it was our house, another part of town or another state. It also has a large foot print for a safe location. So if you are ok your pet could be 3 houses away and “safe” you will be ok. For us we wanted to know when he escaped the yard. Please don’t waste your money. The concept is great but if we ever really needed it I am confident it would not have helped. We have ended our subscription after 4 months as we were wasting money and praying it would magically work. I feel we gave it enough time and tried enough areas, rural, suburbs and urban. Multiple states, different WiFi safe zones, with no improvement in accuracy. We even checked ATT coverage and should have been well within the service area. … more

Wonderful!
By Jane on Jan 2, 2019
We bought these after one of our Newfoundland dogs went missing for the day. We live in the country and they go and explore but always come back an hour or so later. This time one came back but the other didn’t. She finally came back around 1 in the morning. We never wanted to feel helpless like that again. We bought 2 of these trackers and have been using them for little over a month. I cannot begin to tell you how amazing the Whistle Trackers are. Whistle tracks their whereabouts and keep track of their activity levels too. I cannot tell you the peace of mind we have now that we would never have had in the past. The other day I got a notification saying one of my dogs had been resting more than normal and I got another one today saying that she has been more active the past few days. I paid for a year of monitoring but after this year I will pay for the next 2 years. So glad we decided to buy our Whistle Trackers. … more

Whistle3 works great
By JohnT on Jan 20, 2019
The Whistle pet tracker works just as advertised. I have found almost no lag in time with our cat's location on my cell phone map. The notice of the cat's return home is a nice feature too. The fit between the unit and its base is rather tight, making it difficult to remove the unit from the band for charging. However, I suspect that will become easier over time. Great product.

Just What We Were Hoping For!
By Janet on Dec 14, 2018
Our Australian Shepherd, Sophie, is a wonderful, spirited 14 month old puppy. We are working hard on training her and she has all the standard commands pretty much down pat. Except when those two deer ran by and her instincts kicked in. We were in a panic and couldn't find her for several hours. Someone found her after she had chased the deer through brambles, bogs and marshes. What a mess. But we would never have found her. She may have found her way home, but we weren't sure. 4 miles away. That day we knew that we needed a tracking device. Whistle came highly recommended and we are thrilled. Helps but not perfect
By Bailey on Feb 13, 2019
Battery has short life. Charging every day and half. Hard to tweak the safe zone so lots of unnecessary alerts. However, had one quick escape and were able to locate pet in under 5 minutes. Tracker did its job!

Great Product Only For Single Dog Household Or Dogs That Don't Chew
By guin on Nov 10, 2018
I purchased the Whistle 3 for my large lab back in August. I was impressed by the app, the customer service, and the quality. It gave me piece of mind as she sometimes runs when she hears a gun shot. The problem is that I have multiple dogs. My puppy kept pulling it off of the larger lab's collar and the dogs would chew it up. The company first sent me a replacement. So when I got the second GPS replacement from Whistle, I would only put it on the dog when she went out. (Attached to her inground fence collar)Today sadly I lost the THIRD GPS replacement while my dogs were outside running supervised. The puppy pulled it off and my large lab played a "try to take it from me" game. It I purchased the Whistle 3 for my large lab back in August. I was grateful Whistle 3 sent me prior replacements even though they do not warranty against chewing. But what I really wish the company would do is design a better attachment/strap for this incredible device. A rubber strap is not tough enough for a playful pooch. And a product meant for dogs safety should be dog proof. SO IF YOU HAVE ONE DOG, THIS IS A SPECTACULAR PRODUCT!! If you have more then one dog, and your dogs play and/or chew-the $79 purchase price and almost $95 yearly subscription is a lot to loose. Whistle 3 did reimburse me $69 of my unused subscription which was nice. I hope they do a redesign soon because I am going to miss this product more than I miss the $79 purchase price. Works great!
By Bri93 on Jan 5, 2019
We bought this for our flight risk foster pup. It’s well worth the $75 + $99 subscription. It’s not exact when reading the location but it’s close enough. I feel very confident that if she ever ran again, we would locate her quickly.

Tons of hidden fees
By Jaxs on Jan 28, 2019
System comes with tons of hidden fees and extra monthly charges and cancellation fees. Buyer beware. Also the systems lag time is awful. And the accuracy is awful as well.

Do not trust this tracker
By Huskymom on Oct 28, 2018
I bought this after my first edition Whistle finally died. I was happy to see that the Whistle was upgraded so I purchased one. I can tell you now that I have had better luck tracking my husky now on my own then using this Whistle product. It would never tell me the dog left home zone until 20-30 minutes later so it gave him extra run time before I streamed looking for him. Then when I would start the app wouldn’t update the position of where he was. Another thing was that we would get notfications in the middle of the night that he has left the safe zone just to find him sleeping at the bottom of the bed. Numerous calls to customer service did not help with anything. I am looking did I bought this after my first edition Whistle finally died.
