Don’t Waste The Money
By confused on Feb 14, 2021
I rescued a dog almost 5 months ago (now she’s almost 9 months so she’s more than old enough for the test). The vet and all of my friends (including myself) have all been guessing what she could be.... according to the results she’s boxer and pitbull.... And only 12% of both. The rest it just says “breed group” and then it lists the boxer and pitbull again. There’s no way when you see my dog that she’s a boxer or a pitbull.... so therefore, don’t waste your money. I’m just glad this was on sale when I bought it.

Happy with my purchase
By Rebecca on Feb 12, 2021
The swab kit was surprisingly easy to collect a sample. While he can be a little hard to sit still, our puppy liked the bristles up against his check. Shipping to the lab comes with your kit and it got there quick. The only drawback is the wait of 2-3 weeks for results after the labs receives your sample, but we patiently waited. The best part is the detailed report as the results! It was awesome and enlightening to learn about our rescue pup. I enjoyed seeing the family tree broken down as to what his potential ancestors were. This was fascinating and I highly recommend!

Seems accurate
By forgetful on Jan 29, 2021
They should probably get 5 stars, but I deducted one for skeptics like me. I was truly unsure if the results I got would be accurate or they do things like check dog registration records against your name. They didn't ask for a lot of info, but they did ask the dog's age despite breed not changing with age. So, imo, they should remove all erroneous questions to increase confidence. Other than that though, the process was simple. They provide a self-addressed, self-sealing box to return the samples. And they emailed me an update when the swabs were received which means you don't spend weeks wondering. A few weeks later, poof, the results were in. As for the results, I can't say for sure, but they are at least partially accurate. My girl is clearly part great dane, but she's also got something else I couldn't say for sure. My guess was pittie or boxer (or maybe both with who knows. The only certain part was great dane.) She reminded me a lot of my old pittie mix both visually & this intensity level she has sometimes, but *shrug* They said she's half dane & half staffie and thus her parents were both purebreds. Looking at her, there's little doubt one parent was a pure dane so I'm inclined to believe it. … more

Half a DNA
By Jade on Feb 10, 2021
I feel like my dogs DNA was incomplete. We only received half of her DNA the other half was a group of dogs it might be. I feel that I did not pay for just half of the results, I paid for total DNA! When we purchased her we were told she was miniature poodle but I could tell there was more to her story so I paid for her DNA and received half of it. Honestly I would not have gone with this company had I known they only did half the job.

Worth it!!!
By HappyPups on Feb 22, 2021
We decided to get this DNA test for our rescue pup because we knew he was a lab mix, we just didn't know what he was mixed with. We were told possibly beagle or maybe boxer. As it turns out, he has neither of those! He is mostly lab, with American Staffordshire Terrier and American Bulldog.

Sonic says Whut?
By SonicsMom on Feb 19, 2021
I recently adopted a dog from the shelter. He is clearly some sort of Doxie mix. The shelter said Dachshund/Chi but I don't really see much Chihuahua in him so I bought this test. Honestly, I picked this one because it was the cheapest and I had really low expectations. I just thought it would be fun to argue with my friends over the results. We all guessed beforehand and our guesses included 7 different breeds, all reasonable guesses. Today I got my results and ..... drum roll ... Sonic is 37.5% "Who Knows". That's right. They couldn't identity almost 40% of his breeds. They call it "Breed group(s)" but it's basically "we don't know" since the majority of his DNA is supposedly from I recently adopted a dog from the shelter. He is clearly some sort of Doxie mix. This is more than half the breeds they test against, by the way. If you can't tell what breeds a dog is better than that, you have no business selling DNA kits IMO. I'm kind of sorry I didn't buy the Embark brand since, even if it wasn't more accurate, they will tell you about possible relatives and that would be fun. This was not fun. … more

seems made up
By AirD on Jan 21, 2021
While one of her DNA results came back as expected, all the others were way off base. The information seems made up, and they try to get you to post a picture of your pup online when they’re putting your results together and tag them in it so they can guess better I assume. For instance, one result was a hairless dog (def unrelated) another was a boxer (her face shape and stature are nothing comparable). I thought for the cost it would be more believable but am disappointed and don’t believe this undergoes legitimate testing.

Disappointed
By Maggie66 on Feb 7, 2021
We sent off the DNA kit on December 15th, 2020. It is the second week of February and no results have been emailed. Written several emails and only receive automated responses saying they are a couple of weeks behind. It is now coming up on eight weeks. I have called several times, but nobody answers the phone. I do not recommend purchasing this product.

Excellent!
By Piper on Feb 4, 2021
Their process was easy to follow on-line. Results came back sooner than expected. The packet included lots of excellent information on each breed. The certificate was easy to understand. All was very helpful. It was well worth the money. I am so glad we have this DNA test available. Thank you Wisdom Panel!

Unexpected breeds
By Murphy on Jan 11, 2021
I adopted my dog from a family who was re-homing him. I’d always know that I wanted an Irish Setter, and he was actually the first google result for “Irish Setter rescues near me.” He was advertised as an Irish Setter/Border Collie mix. After having him for a couple of years, that mix seemed pretty accurate, given his personality and appearance. I was still curious though, so I ordered this test. Turns out he doesn’t have any Irish Setter OR Border collie in him - he is mostly American Staffordshire Terrier, Rottweiler, and German Shepherd. I never noticed how much of an Am Staff looking head he has until now, and I can definitely see the German Shepherd markings now.
