Description

If you want to know the most you can about your precious pup’s genetic make-up and potential health concerns, the Wisdom Panel Health Breed & Health Identification Dog DNA Test Kit makes it easy to find out. With this simple kit, you can swab your dog’s cheek, send it off in a postage-paid box and discover your dog’s genetic background in just 2-3 weeks. It’s traced back to the great-grandparent level with over 250 breeds detected, including almost all of those recognized by the AKC. You decide whether you want the test to be run for mixed-breed, designer or purebred. All of the tests include a predicted weight profile and information about the most common traits your pooch may exhibit. As an added benefit, you’ll receive results for over 140 disease-causing genetic mutations including disease descriptions and an indication of their potential level of severity.

Key Benefits
  • Detects over 250 breeds, types and varieties including 99% of AKC-recognized breeds; traces three generations revealing your dog’s genetic background.
  • Screens for over 140 disease-causing genetic mutations and provides data on disease descriptions and an indication of their potential severity.
  • Provides adult weight prediction and information on common behavioral traits your pup is likely to exhibit.
  • No need for blood testing at the vet—DNA cheek swab identifies dog’s ancestry so you better understand your dog’s unique appearance, training needs, behaviors, and health/wellness needs.
  • Customized report provides family tree going back to the great-grandparents and will indicate whether it is a purebred, mixed-breed or designer dog; electronic results are available in 2-3 weeks.

  • OPEN SWAB SLEEVE – Peel back the edges of the swab sleeve about 1 inch (not all the way) and remove swab by holding its handle. Do not touch the bristles. Save the sleeve to place the swabs in for mailing.

  • COLLECT CHEEK CELLS – Firmly roll the swab’s bristles between the inner surface of the cheek and gums for about 15 seconds for each swab. NOTE: DO NOT let your dog eat anything or share a water dish with other dogs for about an hour before you do the test.

  • AIR DRY SWABS – Insert swab handle in the hole of the carton insert and allow swabs to dry for about five minutes. Repeat steps 1-3 for the second swab.

  • ACTIVATE YOUR KIT –Activate your kit online. Fill out all the information, check it for accuracy and submit. You will receive an Activation Code Number that you need to write on the back of your Sample ID Sticker.

  • REINSERT DRY SWABS – Reinsert both dry swabs into the protective sleeve they came in. DO NOT reseal as this can cause bacterial growth.

  • SEAL THE CARTON – Place the sleeve with the swabs back into the carton it came in and seal.

  • MAIL TEST TO LAB – Pre-paid shipping label has already been placed on the carton. Simply seal and place with the outgoing mail. See your report online in approximately 2-3 weeks

    Surprised at Results

    By on

I was confident that my dog was miniature pinscher/chihuahua. The results showed something totally different: 25% Australian Cattle Dog (????); 25% Dachshund; 12.5% Korean Jindo (?????); 12.5% Parson Russell Terrier (?????) and 25% mixed breed groups. Was totally shocked at these results and am not sure how accurate they really are. A lot of these dogs are larger dogs and she is only 15 pounds full grown. Doesn't look like any of the breeds mentioned except the mixed breed ones. However, I received my results VERY QUICKLY and the tracking was amazing.

So glad I bought this test!

My boys are rescue pups and the results were fascinating. First, the breeds were surprising but when you look closely and don’t just take the breed given from the rescue organization it starts to make sense. The physical characteristics they called out were 100% accurate and uncommon. As far as the health indicators one person complained that it was not a guarantee of future illness-but no kidding! But what it can do is tell you if there is a marker you can monitor to prevent or mitigate health issues later in life and what a blessing to do that for our loved ones. I also found the chewy price with free shipping to be the best or equal to all other websites and frankly I love chewys customer My boys are rescue pups and the results were fascinating. Probably a hoax

    By on

I feel like an idiot. The results came back with 6 breeds and 3 groups. Five of the breeds are common to shelters. My dog has a distinct coat color and habit that only comes from one breed....and they missed it. He might be part of the other breeds they listed...but they missed the obvious...which means ...they didn't do a thorough test. The health things say he is clear of 152 markers...but some could mutate. All of the language for the results waffles. In the appearance section they got two WRONG (including coat color), two right (but they are common), and two were too vague. I could have gone to a fortune teller - been fed the same line and pay way less.

So Interesting as well as reassuring

    By on

I decided to get this test done after losing two of my beloved Mini-Schnauzers to cancers when we got a new puppy. I just wanted to know what we might be up against in the future so we could take extra precautions in advance (food, vitamins, etc). The information that we received with this test is so interesting as well as informative. We were very reassured that we not only have a very healthy puppy, but we learned new things about how to keep him that way. Highly recommend this test.

Great product and easy to use and the set up was fast. The waiting process is about two weeks but definitely worth it as I get to know the the correct DNA of my pup.

    Shocking results

    By on

We were so shocked to read the results of the Wisdom Panel! We were expecting our dog, FooFee, was a jack russell mix of some kind. She is small, maybe 11 lbs. wow, we were surprised to learn she is 50% Great Dane and 50% Bull Mastiff! What an unexpected delight! Thank you Wisdom Panel! Can’t wait to test the cat!
