Epigen 90 is one of Wysong's most concentrated dry diets, and a very slow, gradual introduction as per the feeding guidelines is necessary for most pets. Even then, not every pet will be able to consume this food long-term as a standalone meal. Wysong Epigen varieties are extremely nutrient dense, highly concentrated, starch-free diets. There is no other kibble diet like them on the market in terms of protein & nutrient concentration.
My cat wasn’t so enthusiastic when I put a little bit on his wet food (ziwi venison). Then I just mix this dry food with ziwi venison dry food and my cat went all crazy for it! I gradually increased the portion and my cat’s poo have been perfect. Finally have a quality dry food my cat loves!! It’s for when I need to go away for 2-3 days and I can use automatic feeder
My cat is diabetic, so I thought that this would be ideal since it has more protein and less carbohydrate content. My cat ate the food and loved it, but his stools were awful. This happened before when he got into our other cat's food. I wish I could recommend it as this would have been perfect for my diabetic cat. This food is probably a great option if your cat is not diabetic, but it was not good for my cat. We switched him back to tiki cat dry and he has been fine.
The only dry food that I feed my 4 cats. Check out the ingredients. Super, and low carbohydrate.
I love this stuff for my cats. They had been having some digestive issues with the Blue Label dry food for sensitive stomachs (go figure) and so I bought this instead after realizing the issue is the potato added to a lot of these dry foods, which are not good for cats. This stuff is totally grain free, and the cats love it! My only complaint is that I wish it came in a bigger bag. If your cat is having accidents around the house and its digestion-related, give this a go.
The bag arrived completely spilled out into the shipping box. I don't know if it's stale, but my cat won't eat it & she eats everything. Not impressed
I wasn't sure about this food at first because it was for dogs and cats. But after doing research, I decided to try it. My cats seem to like it and did really well with it. I tried mixing it with their other food at first because of the reviews saying their cats got sick, but none of mine (11) had any issues from it. Maybe because they were already on a high protein diet, I don't know. Anyway, if you want to feed a healthy, high protein diet to your cats or dogs, I would recommend this food.
Our 15 year old cat handled this food for well over 5 years until he began to throw up soon after eating this food every time he ate it. So, I grind 1.5 cups into a fine powder, Add 2.25 cups boiling water, Simmer on stove for 10 minutes and then cool. This food turns into a protein of Jello consistency. Our {he's the boss) pet hasn't thrown up once since I began mixing this protein "jello" with his Wellness Complete wet food. His energy has increased considerably and goes up stairs 2 at a time and is much more playful. His black coat is very soft and shines like a new black car on a dealer's showroom floor.
This is one of the very few dry foods that can be safely fed to diabetic cats since it has less than 10% carbohydrates (unlike prescription diabetic cat foods). With the help of this food plus canned wet food my kibble addicted diabetic kitty is finally on his way to remission! He seems to love the taste as well but he isn’t terribly picky and his condition makes him absolutely ravenous. This kibble really helps to keep him feeling full without messing up his blood glucose numbers. It’s also cheap enough (comparatively) that I can feed it to my non diabetic cats without breaking the bank.
I do not recommend this food at all. My cat is a huge fan of wet food but it’s been getting expensive so I wanted to find a quality dry food to supplement between meals. This food made my cats poo smell HORRIBLE. The smell would be so strong it would wake me up in the middle of the night and guests could smell it on the first floor when his litter box is on the second floor.
One of my cats was diagnosed with diabetes in November of 2021 and unfortunately, he is the most pickiest cat ever. He absolutely will not eat wet food and I tried other low carb dry foods with no luck. I got samples of this food and I actually wasn't holding out hope he would eat it as he hadn't liked the other four I tried. BUT he happily gobbled up the few peices I gave him and looked at me for more! I was so shocked that he liked it. My other two kitties like it too! Currently I am working VERY SLOWLY on getting them fully switched over, but all cats pick the Wysong out and eat before their other food. My diabetic cat has taken to picking out the Wysong out of his bowl and then he tries to eat it out of the other kitties bowls too, so I have to supervise him as I want to slowly do this so they don't get tummy issues from switching too fast. Even with him only having a third of his food being Wysong, his blood glucose has started improving without increasing his insulin dose. I'm looking forward to seeing what being 100% on this food will do.
