Keep contents and packaging out of reach of children and pets. Seek medical help in case of accidental ingestion.

Litter FeatureUnscented, Non-Clumping, Odor Control, Dust Free, Low Tracking
- Use a moisture-proof litter box. There should be enough room for your cat to comfortably turn around in.
- Fill the litter box to a depth of 2 to 3 inches, with plenty of pellets for pawing and covering. Remember that Yesterday's News paper cat litter is different than clay cat litter. Having the litter too deep will make it more difficult to find and remove the soiled litter.
- Liquid waste is absorbed from the bottom of the pan. It takes a few minutes for all the liquid to absorb.
- Remove the soiled pellets when they have absorbed the liquid and have fully expanded in size.
- Scoop solid waste from the top of the litter box daily.
- Replace the litter weekly.
Additional Instructions
- Only dispose of used cat litter in trash. Do not flush, bury or dispose of it outdoors, in gutters or storm drains to avoid environmental contamination.
- Not for internal use. Not meant for use as compost or as a traction aid.
- Store in a cool, dry place. Product filled by weight; some settling may occur.
Some cats switch from one litter type to another easily. Others require a transition. When possible, give your cat the opportunity adjust to Yesterday's News® prior to surgery.
- Week One: Mix 1/3 Yesterday's News® with your current litter
- Week Two: Mix 1/2 Yesterday's News® with 1/2 current litter
- Week Three: 100% Yesterday's News®

great alternative
By Drew on Jan 18, 2021
I bought this for four cats recovering from surgery. It's a little strange, but I read reviews to figure out how people used it. Basically, liquid waste percolates to the bottom of the pan and decomposes the short lengths of compressed paper at the very bottom into light duff. The longer the litter is used, the more it decomposes from the bottom up. Most of my cats didn't dig too much except to cover the solid waste. Some didn't bother to cover it. The only scooping I did was to uncover and remove the solid waste. Otherwise, I just smoothed it over to make it easier to see when the box had been used. I just changed the litter from a pan used by only one cat for about 11 days. Some of the litter I bought this for four cats recovering from surgery. I just changed the litter from a pan used by only one cat for about 11 days. Some of the litter at the top was still intact and could have been reclaimed for use at the bottom of a new clean pan. The rest was duff-like and lighter than the original intact litter. I disposed of that in the trash. One cat doesn't like it, but I am converting at least one pan to this litter after they all recover in a space where I don't want to contend with litter dust. My other litter is Swheat Scoop, which they all like, but is very dusty and bothers my breathing. … more

Best litter so far
By Bhumi on Jan 15, 2021
We have two cats in a small one bedroom apartment and have tried a few different kinds of litter. The flushable kind was way too smelly....the whole apartment smelled like a farm. We switched to clay with a deodorizer for the past year and this solved the smell issue but the tracking is now a problem. Who likes cat litter in their bed? :/ We started using yesterdays news after one of the kitties got an ingrown nail removed to prevent litter and dust particles getting in the wound. We love this litter! Surprisingly no smells...but I will say, we have a covered litter box so yes, when they poop, it kind of sits on top of the litter so if it's not covered you will get a whiff. Only a few pellets end up on the mat by the litter box which is easy enough to pick up and through away. My kitties thankfully took to the new litter quickly but they did have a few days where they felt an intense desire to play around with the pellets....could be confused as a toy ha … more

Best Decision Ever, No More Dust!
By ChicagoGirl10 on Jan 16, 2021
I've had cats all my life and defaulted to clumping clay litter. Due to recent emergency surgery with one of my furballs, we needed to use non-clumping and Yesterday's News was recommended by the doctor. After our little buddy healed, we kept using it and transitioned the whole house (2 cats, 3 litter boxes) to Yesterday's News. It takes some getting used to (scoop the treasure lumps, the urine plumps up the pellets, then they turn to dust) but well worth it. No more stepping on little grains and NO DUST. A little more work but WELL worth it. Give it a try! Some folks have commented of the smell but I haven't noticed that terribly much, though we do scoop twice a day.

Great for Bunny Litter - Not Just Cats!
By Sena on Jan 7, 2021
In Fall 2019, I hired a bunny sitter who was a veterinary assistant, and she used this litter when housing my 3 buns. When she brought them back to me at the end of my vacation, she had put this In their travel carriers, and I loved that they used it. In the past, I had always used the small pet paper bedding, but it always seemed to smell quickly. Since then, I have ordered this regularly through autoship once a month to service my 3 buns (a polish dwarf, a blue Dutch, and a Rex) and they ALL love it. It’s amazing.

Best Value
By Courtney on Jan 16, 2021
I use this litter in the litter pans for my pet rats. This is the best deal for the price. As I'm using it for rats, this bag lasts a while. It's also unscented, and doesn't have any clumping agents, which can be harmful to rats. Chewy has the best prices and insanely fast delivery. I definitely recommend this product for other rat owners. It's way cheaper than buying "Critter Litter", or whatever else small animal litter.

Horrible Litter
By Samantha on Jan 8, 2021
My cats had to have a procedure done and our vet recommended this litter. One of my cats refused to use this litter. There is 0% odor control. As soon as they go, you can smell it. I changed their litter boxes about 8-10 times a day while they used this litter. You can try putting deodorizer in there, but the ammonia will nearly take your breath away. I love how it’s eco-friendly, but the smell will destroy your house. And their poop paw prints will track everywhere!

Very poor odor absorption
By Jaxx on Dec 11, 2020
I was hopeful for this litter. I've used clay, pine, silica, and walnut litters in the past. The bad part about using a lot of those litters is that they track. This is especially unhelpful when you have a very short and fuzzy cat like I do that loves to jump into your bed first thing after using the litterbox. This newspaper litter doesn't track much, I'll give it that. My bag also didn't have much dust. The litter itself doesn't smell bad, but the litterbox smells dreadful after replacing my crystal litter with this. It has such poor odor absorption that the room, despite having a tiny cat and a Litter Genie, smells strongly of musty cat urine. It really does smell like an animal shelter. No odor control, hard to scoop
By Ginger on Dec 31, 2020
I've had indoor cats for almost thirty years and I have tried many different litters over that time. This is by far the absolute worst brand I have ever used. We currently have two indoor cats and even with multiple (three or more) cleanings daily the odor was awful. You could smell it all through the house! It also wasn't very easy to clean and I had to buy a special scoop for the pellets. I would not recommend this litter.

Newsworthy!
By Diane on Dec 5, 2020
With a bunch of foster kittens of various ages, I go through a lot of litter and try different products. I bought this for my bottle babies because most litters get stuck in their paws, and they end up with bits of litter stuck all over them. The Yesterday's News pellets were an instant success! The mess was absorbed well in the litter box, but the kittens were litter free. The stray pellets that make it onto the floor are easy to sweep or vacuum and not painful to step on. Although it's not as easy to muck out the litter box because the pellets don't sift through the scoop, I have been using less litter and emptying the box more frequently. Easy to use, worry-free
By LizK on Dec 2, 2020
Yesterday's News is the best cat litter we've tried so far! We put about an inch of litter down in our 14x18 box each time; daily removal of poops with doggy-walking-bags and then a full changeout of the peepee litter weekly. PROS: It's not smelly! We live in a tiny one-bedroom apartment and with some litters you can smell it in the whole house. Not so with YN.; It's easy to clean! Leaves little, if any, residue in the litter pan when changing it out.; Very little dust and debris; does not poof up into your lungs when you're pouring, and even though it disintegrates into little particles when the pellets dissolve, there is almost no litter that gets tracked out of the box and around the house Yesterday's News is the best cat litter we've tried so far!
