Yesterday's News Softer Texture Fresh Scent Cat Litter, 26.4-lb bag
Cat/Litter & Accessories/Litter
Our goal is to provide a more sustainable solution for your cat litter needs. We believe doing good starts at home and each step, big or small, has an effect on the world we share. And with Yesterday's News Cat Litter, made from recycled materials, you can feel good that you are taking a small step for the good of your cat, home and the environment.
Softer texture pellets made with recycled paper, feel more like regular clay
Ideal for everyday use and designed for low tracking
Keep 2-3 inches of litter in the box. Remember that, different from clay litter, Yesterday's News will absorb urine from the bottom so having the litter too deep will make it more difficult to find and remove the soiled litter.
Effective Litter With a Positive Impact
Yesterday's News is a safe and hygienic cat litter made from recycled material that includes old newspapers, magazines and phone directories. Instead of dumping these materials into a landfill, Yesterday's News repurposes them into an extremely absorbent litter with effective odor control and minimal tracking. Feel good about using a non-toxic, vet-recommended litter that is safe and healthy for your cat, your home and your environment.
A Healthy and Safe Litter
Besides being highly effective, Yesterday's News cat litter contains no harmful chemicals, making it a safe, non-toxic product for your cat. Your fur baby will readily accept the non-abrasive gentle paper pellets that are easy on his paw pads and won't stick to his fur. These pellets are also ideal for post-surgery cats who risk contamination from the fine particles found in traditional litter.
A Gentle Formula With Powerful Absorption
Effortlessly extend the life of your litter with Yesterday's News' sophisticated absorption technology, which soaks up three times the moisture by volume than traditional clay-based litter. Yesterday's News cat litter comes in Original, Softer Texture and Softer Texture Unscented formulas, so you can be sure that you will find the right litter for your kitty.
Breathe Easy, Live Well
Enjoy a virtually dust-free environment with Yesterday's News 99.7% dust-free cat litter, which allows everyone in the house, including your cat, to breathe easier. Even better, this product has effective odor control and is designed with large pellets for minimal tracking so you can expect a hassle-free clean up every time.
Benefits Beyond the Litter Box
Yesterday's News is committed to helping the environment by always looking for ways to make a positive impact on the world. Throwing away old newspapers can be harmful for the environment, so Yesterday's News encourages everyone to recycle their paper products as a healthier alternative. Besides using recycled newspaper for their litter, Yesterday's News supports a healthy environment by partnering with environmentally conscious suppliers and engaging with local communities for paper-collection programs.
About Yesterday's News
In 1987, Purina's Yesterday's News cat litter was created to provide cat owners with a unique litter alternative. Today, their litter has become U.S. veterinarian's #1 choice among eco-friendly cat litters. This brand is unique because they take materials that could potentially end up in a waste stream and transform them into cat litter that is healthy for your cat, your home and the environment.
It took a bit for the cats (4) to get used to it because of the alfalfa shaped pellets but now they seem to like it. We like the fresh scent and there is very little if any dust! Believe me this is BIG, because we've tried a lot of different ones from clay to ground up walnut shells. All were horrible with the dust. The only problem is when you scoop a lot of the good gets thrown away. Am still experimenting with the scooping so I can save more. Also, little to no odor - another plus.
Not a very good litter

This litter is not "soft textured". While the outside is very smooth, it has the heft and appearance of alfalfa pellets, like rabbit food. It's very heavy. I mixed just a little with the litter I was using, World's Best. My cats were bothered by the oddity in their litter box. I had hoped this was a light weight litter. I didn't use the rest of the bag for kitty litter, I composted the remainder of the bag.
Thankful for No Dust

I bought this Yesterday's News and Feline Pine after reading reviews and getting so tired of trying so many different litters that claimed to be 99% dust free, bologna! Thanks to everyone who does take the time to leave reviews! :-). I use this on the bottom and then put a top layer of the pine pellets and so far, so good. Hardly any pellets tracked vs ALL the litter that used to be scattered from the box to the other end of the house! Also, no dust at all. I have 3 cats/4 litter boxes and we change about every 2 weeks so far, it takes that long to start noticing a faint urine smell when we scoop. 4 stars because it's hard to find a scooper that works with pelleted litter.
No Yesterday’s News For Me

I do not like this litter AT ALL !! I use paper litter only and have for several years. Thought I would try this so that it would be delivered and I wouldn’t need to carry the heavy bags of another brand that I like. I will not purchase this again and will not recommend it.
Served its purpose

My cat had surgery and couldn’t use regular litter for about ten days. We bought Yesterday’s News and it worked perfectly. It prevented any infection on his wound. He is very picky, and old.. so we couldn’t substitute this for ever, but it served its purpose.
I would never use anything els

Wanted to try as a new option for our senior kitty who has gotten very particular about his litter. Unfortunately, he refuses to use this. No big loss, as a good portion was wasted as the bag split open during shipping.
Big fan of this particular one

I switched litters & tried clay again, but it gave me asthma! I picked up 2 different types of YN - the regular and this newer one. I LIKE this newer one. Softer and smaller pellets, the cats really got into it. I'm ordering more!
Great for post surgery kitties!

I ordered this litter after needing a post-surgical option for my kitties who were getting spayed / neutered. The vet reccomended we use this to prevent traditional sand litter from contaminating / irritating the incisions. For this purpose, it worked wonderfully, since it was soft enough to keep my kittens paws from being irritated, and didn't bother the incision at all so long as you scoop very regularly. It was simple for them to transition to using, and didn't track like most pellet litters. However, I take away one star because I wouldn't really reccomend this litter otherwise as an every day option, since the odor control is not great. However, I take away one star because I wouldn't really reccomend this litter otherwise as an every day option, since the odor control is not great. It is better than I expeceted it to be, but it doesn't hide the smell of feces at all, mostly just urine. The urine kind of sinks to the bottom, and the puffed up pieces of paper (which is what happens to the pellets as they absorb moisture,) are easy to scoop if you get them immediately. If, however, your cat likes to bury their business EXTRA well, or scratches some of the puffed up litter while going again, the paper disentigrates into finer powder that sinks to the bottom, and is only really removed by emptying the entire litter box. Although it says on the bag it will last all week, I can't imagine that being true unless you just left some of the powdery / puffy pieces in there (which might be fine to do if you're not worried about the fine particles entering an incision, like I was.) If your priority is sustainability and low tracking litter, though, or you need a post-surgery option for your kitty, this litter is pretty good.… more
Better For Kitties

Really like this litter texture -- softer than the larger pellets but still has minimal dust and my cats don't track it like other types of litter.
