Pregnant or nursing women, as well as children and anyone with a weakened immune system, should avoid handling used cat litter. Always handle litter in a ventilated area to avoid inhalation. • Use a moisture-proof litter box. There should be enough room for your cat to comfortably turn around in.
  • Fill the litter box to a depth of 2 to 3 inches, with plenty of pellets for pawing and covering. Remember that Yesterday's News paper cat litter is different than clay cat litter. Having the litter too deep will make it more difficult to find and remove the soiled litter.
  • Liquid waste is absorbed from the bottom of the pan. It takes a few minutes for all the liquid to absorb.
  • Remove the soiled pellets when they have absorbed the liquid and have fully expanded in size.
  • Scoop solid waste from the top of the litter box daily.
  • Replace the litter weekly.

Additional Instructions

  • Only dispose of used cat litter in trash. Do not flush, bury or dispose of it outdoors, in gutters or storm drains to avoid environmental contamination.
  • Not for internal use. Not meant for use as compost or as a traction aid.
  • Store in a cool, dry place. Product filled by weight; some settling may occur.

  • I love Chewy & Yesterday’s News

    By on

My kitty was just declawed & my vet recommended Yesterday’s news. So I called Chewy & they sent it right out! It is not rough like regular kitty litter. It has been great for both my kitty’s & easy to care for.

  • Get a Head Lamp and a bigger Scoop

    By on

This product was great for when my kittens came home after being spayed. I love how it's lightweight- I have never been able to carry a trash bag full of litter box contents in one hand before! I also like that it is fragrance free. The downsides I have found are that it's difficult to spot bowel movements in the gray colored litter. Also the pellets were too big to go through the holes of my litter genie scoop so I ended up panning for solids which was time consuming. Not a bad product at all, just not right for me.

  • The Only Litter I Will Use

    By on Top 500 Contributor

This is the only litter I use and recommend. There is no fragrance (cat's don't like their litter to be scented), it is made with recycled paper (environmentally friendly and safe if swallowed), is much more absorbent than any clay litter I've used in the past, gets rid of all odor, has no detectable dust (will not cause respiratory problems), it doesn't track and is great for senior cats who might be a bit arthritic and dislike hard litters.

My vet told me I had to use this litter after my cat's surgery. There is no dust and no smell. Both of my cat's used this with no problem. This litter however does not clump so I changed all the litter everyday .

  • Great for Bunnies

    By on

I have Tried many different types of litter for my bunny’s litter box. Clay types are out of the question. This one by far is better, absorbent and no odor.

  • Yesterday's News is Good News

    By on

I use this litter on top of another litter to keep the other litter from sticking to my older cat's fur. I use the other litter because my cat has diabetes and has large volume of urine and has to have clumping litter to absorb the volume.

  • I like this more than I had expected!

    By on

I bought this when my cat got declawed several months ago and stuck with I️t for quite a few months because I️t surprisingly kept the odors down and the tracking was nothing compared to traditional clay. Then we took in a kitten that had uncontrollable diarrhea and I could never quite scoop all the urine soaked pellets since his urine output was just so little. Basically I️t was so much work, so I went with a walnut litter (the dust was unreal and my little one started going outside of the box). Now that his stools are firm, we are going back to this!

  • Not for me

    By on

I prefer the shredded paper litter because it’s light weight to pour. It is hard for me to tell when these pellets are soiled. I have very picky cats. I will say these pellets don’t make a mess outside the litter box as much. My biggest issue is not for the litter it’s for the Chewy packers who put the heavy things on top of the kitty treats and smash them before and or during shipment.
