How much softer is this pellet compared to yesterday’s regular pellets? Can both pellets be broken in half? Thx
Answer by ChewyMay 23, 2018
These pellets feel more like regular clay than the original formula. Although they're packed into a pellet shape, they're able to be broken, moreso when wet.

so i have heard that ink from newspaper and magazines and what no is toxic? if it is how can this be non toxic? thanks
Answer by ChewyNov 12, 2017
Most publishers print using harmless organic inks and/or soy-based inks. The process used to make Yesterday's News neutralizes these inks so there will be no residue left on your cat's paws or fur.

How often does this litter need to be changed completely?
Answer by ChewyJun 13, 2018
This litter is to be replaced weekly.

Is this safe for Guinea Pigs?
Answer by ChewyAug 18, 2018

Great litter

My elderly cat developed pica and started madly eating his litter which was a clay version. My vet suggested I try paper litter. So I decided to try the Yesterday’s News non-clumping unscented softer litter version. I sprinkled a little of his old litter into this new litter. I also kept his old litter box next to the new litter box. At first, it was no go. So I covered his old box and left it there. And bingo he went into the new litter. Clean up is a breeze. Wherever he pees you will see the paper pellets swell up. I don’t clean up right away because I want to make sure it absorbs all the pee. Once you see swollen pellets, you can clean. I take a closed shovel and pick it up. Then I wipe the bottom with a wet paper towel. There is absolutely no tracking of litter throughout the house. You might see one or two pellets when the cat steps out but that’s it. There is no odor. Even the overnight pee has no odor. The pica problem was solved medically, but I’m not going back to the old litter. Remember, you find the pee spot by looking for swollen pellets.

Great option for medically compromised cats

My clutter (3 cats, two are litter mates, twins in fact) all have unusual, health conditions. Two have chronic rhinitis, and the twins are prone to forming bladder stones which have had to be surgically removed. All are fed prescription diets and I have tried numerous litter options. This (and the "clumping" version) may just be my "salvation". Pros: 1.) Seems to be acceptable to all cats, provided "softer" pellet and "clumping" versions are offered. 2.) Hopefully eliminates the formation of stones, claims to have "only" guar gum and one other "natural" ingredient along with the paper 3.) Appears to minimize nasal/optical discharge 4.) Minimal tracking and so far no dust 5.) Less expensive than many other litter options, available through and some hardware & garden retailers Cons: 1.) Dark grey in color so virtually impossible to easily spot where cats have used it for efficient scooping. 2.) The "clumping" version really doesn't clump, but the texture is acceptable to cats who refuse pellet litter, and can simply be replaced as would be any other non-clumping litter. 3.) "Odor control" is minimal but that is easily managed with daily and/or twice daily scooping which is better for the cats anyway. (I must use only non-scented litter, so I can't say whether the scented option would be different in this category)

Great for my bunny

I’ve been using this litter for my rabbit for about two years and love it. Keeps smells at bay, easy to clean up and my rabbit seems comfortable while using his litter box. I would recommend to anyone who is using a litter box with their rabbit.

I will never go back to dusty heavy clay litter. This litter is the best one I’ve ever used. I like that it lowers odors and you don’t smell pee. It’s very easy to scoop. I clean my cats box daily, it’s so much easier to manage with this litter.

Great for rabbits

I use this litter for my rabbits litter boxes. Thought the "softer texture" isn't exactly "soft", the individual pellets are definitely smaller and smoother than other paper litter pellets, which is easier on the little feet of small breed rabbits. I find also find that the sturdy reinforced paper bags that Yesterday's News litter comes is less prone to tearing in transit than the other brand of paper litter that comes in green color plastic bags.

Paper litter

I had two kittens that were dropped off, decided to keep them. They had surgery ( front claws removed) so they could not use regular litter, Chewy was the only place I could find it. When I called a very helpful, kind young lady was most definitely informed about what I needed. Had Yesterday’s News the next day. Thanks

Great Litter!

I've used this litter since 4 years now. I love that it's odorless, but also absorbs the smells of all the cat business. Doesn't clump, its not trailed all over the apartment, and my cat loves it! It's also the same litter we use at our cat shelters. It's manageable and has an easy clean up.

Cat newspaper litter

It was perfect for me, because my diabetic cat started to sit in the clumping litter and got all the clumps on his fur.

Great for senior cat with allergies

Swapped from sWheat scoop, which was creating a lot of dust and making our kitty sneezy. He easily transitioned to this litter and it creates minimal dust. He does track it out of the box a bit but not far. It's easy to scoop and has no scents!
