Precautions

Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling used cat litter, as cat feces may contain Toxoplasma gondii—a parasite that can cause toxoplasmosis. Pregnant or nursing women, as well as children and anyone with a weakened immune system, should avoid handling used cat litter. Always handle litter in a ventilated area to avoid inhalation. • Use a moisture-proof litter box. There should be enough room for your cat to comfortably turn around in.
  • Fill the litter box to a depth of 2 to 3 inches, with plenty of pellets for pawing and covering. Remember that Yesterday's News paper cat litter is different than clay cat litter. Having the litter too deep will make it more difficult to find and remove the soiled litter.
  • Liquid waste is absorbed from the bottom of the pan. It takes a few minutes for all the liquid to absorb.
  • Remove the soiled pellets when they have absorbed the liquid and have fully expanded in size.
  • Scoop solid waste from the top of the litter box daily.
  • Replace the litter weekly.

  • Good stuff!

    By on

I had to give this stuff 3 stars instead of 5. It's a great product but the color of the litter is too brown and too dark in color, which is a problem in locating my cat's urine. I've tried the Fresh News litter, this litter is a lighter color grey which makes it a lot better to see the urine absorbtion for disposal. Also, Yesterday's News disintegrates too fast and creates a lot of dust. Don't like my cat to inhale the dust particles when he is trying to bury his business. But on a good point; even though this is an unscented product, it keeps the odors down really good. I think I'll go back to Fresh News. I hope this review helps you make a good decision for your cats litter.

  • Paper packaging

    By on

Paper packaging is the only good thing i can say about this litter. The pellets are small almost worm like. And the color is exactly the same as #2. So u cant find it and u cant see where the cat peed. My went to the garbage. I didnt want to give purina my $ anyway. So im back to using fresh news.

  • Good but with issues

    By on

I love using paper litter eaiser clean up less tracking and better for the environment however this litter is brown (my precious litter was grey) so stools are very well hidden lol but I cannot see where my kids have peed in order to scoop it out — our other litter (when it was available) was grey so u can see where the urine was bc it would “shred” in a way and it was darker in color

  • Vet reccomended item

    By on

This item was recommended for my cat when she had a declaw surgery. It is a good product for this because it is softer and doesn't stick to paws while they are healing. We do not use this as a regular litter for our kitty, but you could if you wanted to. One nice feature is you use less of this than a regular litter. I give Yesterday's News a thumbs up.

  • I ended up donating it

    By on

The cats loved it because it was easy on their feet, but they also enjoyed playing floor hockey with the individual pellets, and I found them EVERYWHERE. Also, when cleaning the litter on a daily basis, I ended up throwing out a lot of good litter because it doesn’t clump or fall through the slots in the litter pan scoop. Poop was easy to find, but difficult to find where they were urinating to get that cleaned out of the tray because pellets stay hard and everything just runs through them.

  • It works on three counts for us

    By on

There is no perfect litter, but are three things we need a litter to do that makes this excellent: 1. The cat will use it - our cat happily uses Yesterday's News - Check! 2. The litter does not get smelly - There is a kind of paper smell, but very light. There is not ammonia order from the liquid: we do have to scoop the solids as our cat disdains to cover it, but that is hardly the litters fault, as she did the same with other litters. 3. It does not track - one clumping litter we used had a wide trail, and the cat had it all over the house. Some of the nuggets do come out of the box, but are easily cleaned up and the broken down parts remain in the box. I also like that clean up is easy and the litter box does not had hard lumps of clumped litter stuck to it. I am using a sifting litter box and it mostly works very well if I stir the litter first, then lift and clean. … more

  • Very absorbent. Not dusty. Great for under paper or shavings.

I use this litter under some paper bedding and shavings. Very absorbent. Not dusty. But is does turn my rabbits white paws green.

  • Great for tiny kittens at my rescue.

    By on

I use this litter when training small kittens. It does not stick to their little paws like ALL conventional litters. In the past I was constantly washing their little feet and drying well. Then they would walk thru their water dish, jump in the litter box and you can figure out the rest! I would give Yesterdays news 5 stars but since you have to toss it out pretty much after each use it's not the most economical.

  • Not great but not bad either

    By on

The positives: no dust, no dragging around the house, lightweight, kitties were ok with it The negatives: color makes it hard to see where the pee is. Kind of crumbles apart when wet.
