What makes this formula special for dogs? What is the difference between this and the coconut oil I can buy at the grocery store?
Answer by • Jan 24, 2018
This product is sourced and processed the same as Coconut Oil for humans.
I just received my zesty paws coconut oiled for my dog. When I opened the jar of oil it was pretty hard. Will the oil soften over time or should I return it?
Answer by • Nov 22, 2017
This product should be stored in a cool, dry place and may have turned solid during transit in cooler weather. Do not use if safety seal is broken or missing.

Is this in a glass or plastic jar?

This product comes in a plastic jar, not a glass one.
Took our boy to the vet regarding some fur thinning. His skin was very dry and flakey. He won’t take fish oil and the vet recommended coconut oil and gave us the appropriate dosage amount for his weight. He has had zero ill affects and his coat is coming in healthy. We started him off with half the dose at first for a week and gradually stepped him up to the full prescribed dose. For those saying coconut oil can cause pancreatitis; it can in HIGH DOSES because of the high fat content. Please do not leave out vital information and spread misinformation. Our boy also has a very sensitive gut and once again; this works for him with no stomach upset.

Lab likes it
My older labrador was just introduced to it and she likes it. Some days she cleans the bowl, somedays she leaves some for later. Too early to tell as far as the benefits, as only been 3 weeks.

ABSOLUTELY the WORST
I should have read the negative reviews prior to purchasing this horrible product. Both my Shih-Tzus became quite ill after giving half the recommended dose for only two days. I was able to identify the oil when I checked closely. and will return if Chewy allows it

not good for sensitive dogs
I was hoping this would be good for my 17 pound shih tzu/bichon frise mix dog’s skin and coat, and at first he seemed to like it. After just a few days of adding only half the suggested amount to his diet, he started throwing it up and avoiding it in his dish. Sad it won’t work out for him but if your dog isn’t as sensitive maybe it will be better :(

Best Coconut Oil for Dogs
This is one of the best coconut oils I have ever used. I have tried using refined coconut oil made for humans on my furbaby and they didn't work as well as this one. Highly recommend it for large breed dogs that are prone to allergies.

Beware: may cause pancreatitis!!
I gave half the suggested amount to both my dogs for only two days because one of my pups was acting like her stomach hurt so I stopped. A few days later, my other dog was vomiting profusely so I took her to the vet and she has pancreatitis. She had no change to her diet except for this coconut oil. I’ve done some reading and there is controversy on whether coconut oil is healthy for dogs or hurtful. Some vets say coconut oil CAN cause pancreatitis due to its high fat content. It’s not worth the risk!!
