I bought these for my 4 month old husky puppy. She is very active as most huskys are. We have a big back yard and she gets hours of exercise throughout the course of the day. So you would think she would sleep well at night. She wants to continue to stay up all night and play, hence keeping everyone in the house awake. I bought these hoping to calm her down in the evenings so she would sleep. First of all she HATES the smell/taste so she won't even touch them. I have tried smothering them in peanut butter or hiding them in cheese and she just licks off the peanut butter or eats the cheese and not the chew. I have been dealing with separation anxiety with my lab for a while now (close to a year). I initially tried these alone and didn’t see improvement. I ended up going with RX anti anxiety meds. After 8 weeks, With a bump in dose halfway, he was worse. Literally much worse. We weaned off meds. I read a book called Be right back, which I recommend, and also did some very thorough research. I now incorporate what I learned from the book with these chews along with Zesty Paws Cognitive bites with cbd, goats milk daily (basically a super food) and a magnesium supplement. I’ve seen so much improvement. We purchased the peanut butter flavor bites to help our anxious senior dog. Our dog often whines or bites and scratches at himself when anxious. Our vet checked him several times and he’s otherwise healthy. We tried these bites for two days now and he’s biting at his paws less than the week prior. He also didn’t whine and whimper in the evening for the first time in a long time. We plan to continue to use these calming bites for a bit longer and track his behavior to see if they continue to result in improvements. Would recommend!

My Thoughts: I'm very happy that I gave Zesty Paws Calming soft chews a try becus I was on the verge of sending my fur baby kade to doggie boot camp with his crazy hyper self. They don't knock him out or make him lethargic or anything they just help calm him down with all that hyper ness he's got going on, make him less anxious, & hes more likely to sit quietly & or pay attention to commands. I have an extremely anxious Boxer. She's a rescue and bounced between homes until I found her. She was 2 when we rescued her and we are her 4th home. Naturally she has anxiety. She will flee from any uncomfortable situation without worry of running into things. She just wants to get away. Zesty paws calming treats really helped take the edge off. Unfortunately she has such high anxiety we had to seek veterinary help. She is now on prozac, but occasionally she will have moments where she becomes so skittish. I still use zesty paws calming treats to help during the rough moments.

I started using these for my younger dog who has separation anxiety, but have started using them for my older guy due to his anxiety around fireworks and thunderstorms. Also, since WFH has been a thing and we live in an urban area, these have been helpful with the ongoing construction we’ve been dealing with. I follow the guidelines on the container regarding how many “treats” each of my guys should get and they’ve truly helped so much. They also love the peanut butter taste and really do think they’re a treat, so giving them is easy!

I have 3 dogs. All ranging in weight, activity level etc. These are absolutely a waste of money. Yes my dogs think they taste good!, but they do absolutely nothing, if anything I think it increases their activity level. I was looking for something to be able to calm them down enough to be able to train more, it’s hard to individually train with a pack of one track minds! Wish I wouldn’t have wasted my money on this.

It's funny, these are calming bites, but they go crazy for these treats. About an hour later they are super calm so we can wind down at night. They don't make them crash, or act loopy though. They act super chill playing with their toys and cuddling while we watch TV. Two of our dogs are under 6 months, so these help with their excess energy issue at night and helped get them on a schedule.

My German shepherd has high anxiety to the point he chews himself raw. I bought a thunder vest but it can only be worn for short periods. My vet recommended I put him on Prozac which I was against and then I found these calming bites. They have changed our lives! His anxiety has lessened and he rarely chews on himself anymore. I have a large rescue dog who was dumped on the street as a puppy and has a lot of anxiety. He is frightened by loud sounds, doesn’t like to be left alone, he is terrified of the car, and he resource guards food and toys. I started him on these about 2 years ago and they seemed to help. To test this, I stopped giving them to him for a month. That was all it took. He’s been back on them since. He is definitely a calmer and happier dog.
