About Zignature Dog Food

Learning From Nature

Learning From Nature

Zignature took all of nature's best ingredients and added key nutrients to create a dog food with complete nutrition. In these Physiologically Tuned formulas, meat always comes first, and they've eliminated common allergy-inducing proteins and fillers that are hard to digest. These grain- and gluten-free recipes feature premium proteins, low glycemic carb sources and a limited number of ingredients. It's exactly what your pup should be eating—nothing more, and nothing less.

Meat-First Philosophy

The first ingredient in any list is the most important, because it tells you what the majority of the food is made of. Some commercial pet foods take the easy way out with high-starch carbs near the top of the list. In each of Zignature's dry foods, meat not only comes first, but also second. A quality animal protein source starts off the recipe, followed by a meat or fish meal for an extra helping of the amino acids your pet needs and the flavor he craves.

Recipe for a Happy Tummy

Recipe for a Happy Tummy

All of Zignature's formulas are free of the most common canine allergen—chicken. And that includes chicken eggs, meal and by-products. As hypoallergenic foods, both wet and dry formulas also avoid the usual sources of stomach upset, including gluten, grains, corn, wheat, soy and dairy. Zignature never uses binding agents that are full of simple carbs and starches; instead, these recipes have low glycemic legumes that deliver extra protein and fiber.

Simple Is Best

Zignature isn't just the diet nature intended—it's even better. They've improved on nature's recipe to give your pup the right amount of each nutrient, and they've done it with the fewest possible ingredients. Just like meals in the wild, these recipes are limited in content for easy digestion and less chance of food sensitivities. These limited ingredient diets have single protein sources, so they're easy to rotate to give your dog a taste of something new.

Only the Best Ingredients

Only the Best Ingredients

To create these nourishing dishes, Zignature gathered the best possible ingredients from trusted sources around the world. Trout, salmon and whitefish all come from the Pacific waters of the Northwest; turkey is raised in the Midwest; duck comes from farms in Western France; kangaroo is brought over from Australia; and venison and lamb are delivered from New Zealand farmlands. Healthy fruits and veggies are harvested from several North American farms based on the season.

Ingredients

Zignature makes nutritious formulas with no artificial flavors, preservatives or colors.

CHICKPEAS: Low-glycemic legumes that promote stable blood sugar and provide an excellent source of dietary fiber, extra protein and copper.

FLAXSEED: Derived from whole, ground seeds of the Flax plant for an outstanding offering of omega-3 fatty acids for coat health, plus soluble fiber for digestion.

ALFALFA MEAL: A natural grass that's rich in vitamins A and C, niacin and calcium, and it also makes a great source of protein and fiber.

SUNFLOWER OIL: Pressed from sunflower oil, it supplies the omega-6 essential fatty acids that your pet needs to maintain skin and coat health.

  • Dog with IBD

Our 1 year old dog has IBD and we have recently made the switch to this food to see if it will work with her food allergies. We needed a novel protein AND novel carb. This food fit the bill. She is still on prednisone so we are unsure if she has any allergies to it yet. However, she snarfs it down and seems to love it. Our only complaint is that she went from pooping 2 times a day on her RX food to now pooping about 5-6 times a day. All still very solid, but that is just a lot of poop! I have read that this is really common with this food because of the high fiber content. I am hoping that her body can adjust and that will slow down. She has been on it for 2 weeks now. • Zignature Kangaroo

    By on

Since I don't want to feed my Goldens sodium selenite in their kibble, I am always on the lookout for brands that use selenium yeast instead. It's a tough road with not many options. I have looked at Zignature before, but the rest have sodium selenite, this one said selenium yeast. So I ordered a couple of bags to try out and see if they liked it. Of course they did, they're Goldens and would eat a bowl full of rocks if I gave it to them. With some research recommending selenium yeast for cancer prone breeds instead of the widely used sodium selenite, it gives me more peace of mind that I am doing all I can for them. That they love it is an added bonus.

  • In Love With this Food

I have 4 dogs a couple are finicky and sometimes wouldn’t eat their more expensive food. Now when they see me and their bowl coming they start jumping like kangaroos with excitement and it’s gone instantly. Love that you can change the protein type each time you buy a bag of dog food without a problem because all of the basic ingredients are the same. The best dog food I have ever bought it gets 16 paws of approval for my 4 fur kid.

  • Picky dog gobbles this down!

    By on

Finding food for a picky eater is tough. Finding food for a picky eater with allergies is almost impossible. So glad we found this! We've only been feeding to our puppy (1 year old, giant breed) for a few days, but I wanted to go ahead and leave a review since he is actually eating it. We tried several different high quality brands and flavors (that didn't have chicken or grains) and this is the one that he gobbles down, so we plan to stick with it! And the kibble size is great - no teeny tiny bits that fall out of his huge mouth! I'll update once we see if his allergies improve :)

  • Excellent Product

    By on

When I was asked by my girls vet what food was being fed I said kangaroo and venison. He responded good then we don't have to worry about allergies. I have always fed what I assumed was high quality foods, but the girls always had runny eyes, but no more with this dry food. I rotate the venison and kangaroo and add a wet kangaroo on top. Oh I also soak the dry in hot water for 30-60 minutes before feeding since one of the girls is a fast eater and two of them have lost a lot of teeth. There is less out put with this food also. Please give this food a try.

  • Review on Zignature Kangaroo Dry Dog Food

    By on

I have two Olde Victorian Bulldogges - one is 125 lbs. and is 7 years old. His stepbrother is 100 lbs. and 9 years old. The youngest one is extremely finicky when it comes to his dog food. The only way he would eat this kangaroo food is if I added some canned beef dog food. with NO GRAVY!! His older bro will eat absolutely anything when he is hungry!!! Both dogs need to lose some weight and kangaroo meat is very lean!! So I do recommend it if your dog is not a picky eater!!

  • dog with food allergies

    By on

Super awesome food!! I have a Doberman that has had very bad allergies since he was a puppy, a mix of environmental and food allergies. His fur got all patchy and he would break out in hives before I switched him to this food! Honestly, try this food before you go with a prescribed "vegetarian" diet... thats a waste of money. After switching to this food his hair has started to grow back and his coat has never looked better!! The protein in it has also made him look more lean and muscular in comparison to when he was on his vegetarian diet

  • Amazing dog food!

My pitbull has many allergies and I had tried many grain free foods. She would let the food sit for hours before eating it. As soon as I feed her it's gone. I was also told it will help with her itching. I am hoping so

  • Great for our sensitive boy!

    By on

One of our dogs was starting to scratch and after a few different attempts to cure it with meds, we decided to switch food. He has drastically lessened his scratching and now we plan to switch all our dogs to this formula. Really appreciate that it's made local to us as well!

My boy is a 9 yr old black lab that has seasonal allergies & has gone from taking zyrtec to help & scratching all the time to hardly scratching at all been & I quit the zyrtec to see if he wld be ok & he is. I started him out on turkey then switched to kangaroo. He loves the flavor & has more energy than ever & the only thing I can contribute it too is the food. He's been on zignature now for about 7 weeks. The customer service with chewy is the absolute best!
