Do they float or sink?
Answer by ChewyApr 18, 2019
These dried shrimp will float on the water until they have been completely waterlogged. Once completely soaked, the shrimp will slowly sink to the bottom of the water.

Do river shrimp contain thiaminase, a chemical compound naturally found in krill and other saltwater invertebrates? Thiaminase is bad for the longterm health of freshwater pufferfish, so I'm looking for krill alternatives.
Answer by ChewyFeb 02, 2021
All shrimp contain some amount of Thiaminase. This is generally not a concern for predatory fish if their Thiaminase intake is minimal and a variety of other foods are fed. Also, vitamin supplementation containing adequate Vitamin B can also help prevent any deficiency issues.

can these be fed to aquatic frogs?
Answer by ChewyJun 17, 2019
This food is suitable for aquatic frogs.

can an axolotl eat this
Answer by ChewyJan 27, 2021

Axolotl No Like

Thought I would try something new and give my guy some variety. Pieces are larger than I thought they would be (my bad), but when I tried to break into smaller pieces they turned to dust. Managed to get a few pieces wet enough to sink and he tried one, let all others float by.

Love Zilla products

My one year old red eared slider loves these! Great product.

Wish my turtle would maybe chew them... but they’re great!

My juvenile RES sucks these bad boys up like some kind of tiny, reptilian vacuum. He will push all other food out of the way so that he can inhale these first (because who has time for chewing?). Soooo I guess it’s safe to say that river shrimp are his favorite... and honestly, the price is pretty good, too!

Price change

I love getting these for my turtles and they were priced vert reasonably and then they went up over $5 and its very frustrating. Ive been purchasing them at the same price for about a year and then they do up with no warning

My Red Eared Sliders love these!!!

My sliders love these!!! The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is because of all the powdered bits at the bottom of the bag.

My turtle loves them

Right size for my three year old slider. I've tried variety packs with shrimp, crickets and mealworms and end up picking out the shrimp for him and feeding the rest to the birds.

TURTLE LOVES THEM!

My red eared slider LOVES these! Ive bought them before. She sees me pick up the bag at the other end of the tank and shoots over to practically climb up the glass for them! Definitely recommend these

She said yes!

I have an approximately 15 -18 yr old red ear slider turtle I kind of inherited from my son when he went off to college several years ago and I love to give her treats. She loves these little bits of yummy shrimp goodness that she knows a follow up sprinkle of shrimp will follow her regular feeding and will wait for the treat. Highly recommend getting these for your turtle or reptile!

Hard on the filter

The undigested shrimp shells really do a number on the filter - we have to clean it twice as often when we use these as our turtle treats. He does like them, though.

My baby's love this!!

For some reason my baby turtles prefer this over even zillas brand. They seem to be able to eat it better without it sinking or floating away. So I just do what makes them eat. The baby stages are the foundation for a happy healthy turtle..
