Needed a replacement fixture for our bearded dragon and found this on Chewy. Seemed like a good product, and it works ok, but the product size/description is misleading. The fixture is large but the actual light is only 18". Be sure when you go to order a replacement bulb you get the correct size.
They of course put that at the very bottom of the listing too! This is not a 24 in lamp which it's labeled as, instead it's only 18 inches.
Only after 2 weeks it's stopped working. I went to the pet store bought a new light bulb and it still would not work.
This light is a piece of junk. It would only stay on if we were actively pushing the bulb in; as soon as we let go and flipped it over onto our bearded dragon's tank it turned off. Off/on/off/on, so frustrating. It's cheap plastic and clearly doesn't have a great connection to the bulb. I ended up buying a fixture from Home Depot and purchasing the ReptiSun 10.0 T8 bulb here instead. Don't buy this!
The product description is misleading, the bulb ONLY produces UVB, no heat. Some reviews said the bulb was not producing UVB so I tested and the bulb I got IS working correctly and producing UVB. However, the light does not penetrate very far down, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend this for a bearded dragon, or anything in a large tank. I use this for my emerald swift, as he's in a 20 gallon long tank and the lightweight fixture is good for the smaller tank.
It’s very very good looking I have it over my 40 gallon tap my beardie need a new fixture, it comes with a light a bit flicker-y, but overall very nice
The sizes aren’t correct and the lamp does NOT produce any heat! I’m going to return this immediately
It would be great if the lamp was sized to fit the bulb. The lamp takes an 18" bulb. The bulb in the kit (frequently bought together) was for a 24" lamp. Go figure.
I purchased this light fixture for my Russian tortoise's enclosure. I assumed that the bulb would produce UV as stated, so I mounted it in the enclosure. After several hours, I used my UV meter to see how far/close it needed to be to the substrate to be beneficial. The UV meter read 0%! There is absolutely NO UV benefit from this bulb. Unfortunately, because I drilled some small holes in the plastic part of the fixture for mounting purposes, I cannot return it and get my money back. Zilla lost me as a future customer. To be clear, my issue is with Zilla, not Chewy.com. I would give it 0 stars, but the lowest rating is 1 star.
This is just what my tank needed. Great size to cover 2/3 of the tank for UVB coverage.
