can this heat mat be put in breaded dragon tank under the liner.Tank is 50 gallon and I have a hard time keeping my baby warm as my room has no heat source
Answer by ChewyOct 31, 2017
While this works great to give your bearded dragon some added heat, it should be placed underneath or on the side of the terrarium, not inside. It shouldn't be used to substitute your beardie's basking light, as that is their main source of heat.

I have a five gallon tank for my small hermit crabs. Is this heating pad safe for them?
Answer by ChewyAug 21, 2019
This heater may be used with a hermit crab habitat. It is generally recommended they be housed in a habitat with a temperature no lower than 75°F. The 4-watt model is suitable for tanks from 1 to 5 gallons.

how and where do i put this on
Answer by ChewyDec 25, 2018
This heater may be placed on the under the terrarium or it can be side mounted. Remove the protective paper from adhesive side of heat mat, place adhesive side of heat mat to outside of glass terrarium. Then rub the heat mat evenly until it is firmly adhered to the terrarium bottom. If placing under, place the rubber spacers under each corner of the terrarium bottom, making sure that the terrarium does not rest directly on the heat mat electrical cord when in use.

Is this approved for plastic tanks?
Answer by ChewyJan 14, 2021
This heat mat is for use with glass tanks only. Do not mount on plastic or metal surfaces.

Stopped working within 24 hours

It heated well when first plugged in, and then totally died within less than 24 hours. I tried a different outlet and it wouldn't reheat. It's totally dead.

Do not recommend for 4 watt.

I ordered this back in August apparently. I bought it for a backup just in case my main one ever failed. I broke it out a couple of weeks ago to use and it does not heat. It's like barely lukewarm definitely not warm enough to keep a animal warm or alive.
