Description

Feed your dog farm to bowl nutrition with the Ziwi Peak Air-Dried Chicken Dog Food. Simple and pure, just like the Ziwi love for dogs, this recipe gives your pal the best of New Zealand. Using a gentle twin-stage air-drying process, they naturally preserve all the ingredients, which also eliminates pathogenic bacteria. There’s no need to rehydrate since the air-dried food contains more moisture than dry kibble—and because there’s also no need for preservatives, sugars and glycerines, the food is safe, clean and easy to handle. In fact, it’s just as nutritious and digestible as a completely raw diet, in the convenient form of air-dried food.

Key Benefits
  • 100% single-sourced chicken is free-range and grass-fed on ethical and sustainable New Zealand farms, free of antibiotics, growth promotants and added hormones.
  • The gentle twin-stage air-drying process eliminates pathogenic bacteria while naturally preserving and protecting the nutrients in all the ingredients.
  • Includes 96% fresh meat, organs, bones and New Zealand green mussels—a natural source of chondroitin and glucosamine, which supports joint health.
  • 95% digestible, high-protein and high-kilocalorie diet packs more power than raw food or kibble so you can feed smaller quantities per day.
  • Complete and balanced, limited-ingredient formula never includes grains, corn, soy, potatoes, wheat, rice, fillers, sugars, glycerins, rendered meals or preservatives.

    My Chihuahua puppy loves it!

    By on

This was recommended to me by a vet tech friend as a training treat for my Chihuahua puppy. He loves it so much I now feed it mixed with his Royal Canin wet puppy food. He actually dances when I put his dish down! It has improved his stool and he likes it way better than regular kibble. You definitely pay for quality here.

It’s Great Food, But Not For My Kid

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

Ziwi has a awesome line of food! The ingredients are spot on! I love that it’s a meat based diet! I’d buy it for my 20 lb Mini Aussie if it wasn’t so expensive (paying for quality) and he wasn’t picky (it’s a gamble with him). I bought a 1lb bag of Chicken, Beef, & Lamb + Tripe. He eats the lamb/tripe + the beef but refuses to eat the chicken (and he NEVER turns down chicken). I have no idea what his problem is. The smell isn’t bad but it’s definitely there. I will be switching him to raw. I will be giving this 1lb chicken bag to my father for his three dogs so it will be enjoyed as a tasty treat!

One of the highest quality products I've come across.

    By on

Ziwi Peak is extremely expensive and, as a matter of fact, a little higher in protein than I wish to feed to my medium activity dog(38 % rather than my top limit of around 26 %) However, the ingredients are just what a dog should be eating . I love that it has real chicken (not the chicken meal), chicken organs, green mussels, and chicken bone which are a superlative source of nutrition. I like that it is "gently air dried" so it retains most of the nutrition yet does not have the dangers of a raw diet. What I do is I feed one of the Honest Kitchen dehydrated recipes and use this as a topper. I also use it as treats though it breaks easily and is a little crumbly. Hope this helps.

    had high hopes for this

I'm willing to splurge a little on healthy (and yummy) pet food for my puppy so that he is not stuck eating kibble all the time. The first time we got this and I fed it to him, he chomped it down. However, after that - he seems to walk away from it in disgust. I'm not sure if it is because the smell is too strong (quite a pungent smell, my hand is always stinky when I put my hand in the bag for the scoop) but he smells it and walks away, even when he is hungry. I have tried numerous times to get him to eat this, using different "trick" tactics: mixing it with his favorite meat that I cooked, mixing it with some bacon (his favorite), etc... but for some reason when he gets a whiff of this in his I'm willing to splurge a little on healthy (and yummy) pet food for my puppy so that he is not stuck eating kibble all the time. I'm not sure why because I really thought he would like this. It is very similar to jerky (which he LOVES), with that same type of texture, just a little more pungent smell. I've read good reviews on here regarding this product and while I'm sure this is a great product, the 'flavor' just doesn't seem to do it for my pup. I wish they would come out with a new flavor, something not too pungent, smells like chicken/turkey jerky. Now I am stuck with quite a full bag of these that I'm not able to use, or I'll have to find ways to sneak these into his food somehow. I just can't get myself to throw out a perfectly good bag of pricey dog food. … more

    Finally a food she likes!

    By on

Finally!! My yorkie was extremely, extremely picky. She would hardly eat and really only wanted wet food or primal raw. The primal raw was getting toooo expensive & a breeder told me she feeds her dogs Ziwi. I ordered the smaller bag of the chicken with very low expectations since my dog never ate hard food (refused it all) and was very finicky. She LOVES this brand, I have stuck with the chicken because I’m afraid if I switch it she won’t eat it, however, she devours her food. I put a cup in her bowl every day and by the night time it’s all gone. My only complaint about the food is it gets smashed easily and has a lot of crumbs so by the end of the night she has all crumbs mixed in with kibble Finally!! Great food that can also be used as treats

    By on

We used Ziwi Peak air dried foods as training treats when our dog was a pup. He loves all flavors! Our dog is almost 6 now and we still use Ziwi Peak for treats and snacks. They are handy, as the food is a small flat, dry square you can carry in your pocket. Very convenient and it is good for him!

The only flavor that is too dry

    By on

My dogs have loved all the Ziwi foods, which I use as treats, and the chicken formula is no exception. However this flavor has far more brittle pieces, and they are basically unusable as treats. I will add the crumbs to my dogs' other food and go back to using the other formulations for treats. It's still good stuff and my dogs enjoy the taste.

    Great as a topper

I use this product as a topper for her dry food. It is expensive. My dog won't eat her dry food without it. The texture is like jerky.

Great Food to use for training

    By on

I am a dog trainer. I used to buy $100’s of dollars worth of “training treats”. Since I push using food to begin training. I was feeling kind of guilty about the junk food the pups were getting. So I switched to Ziwi Peak. It is cheaper and way more nutritious.
