  • Ziwi Cannned Lamb Smells Bad

    By on

I have 2 rescued cats that are less than year old. Little Girl has a broken pelvis that won't heal. Little Boy has a displaced hip and damage to his back. They both have respiratory problems and problems swallowing. Little Girl has intestinal problems. They both have Feline Hyperplasia. Little Girl has Coronovirus, and she had toxo. And the list goes on.... I didn't name them because they have so many health problems, and I was not sure if I would be able to afford to keep them, or if even if it would be more humane to put them to sleep. I didn't want my daughter to become too attached. Too late. We have fallen in love with them. We call them Little Boy and Little Girl. They both I have 2 rescued cats that are less than year old. I didn't want my daughter to become too attached. Too late. We have fallen in love with them. We call them Little Boy and Little Girl. They both have problems breathing, their lungs and their nose. They are on Terbutaline and Prednisolone for breathing. They take Pain Medicine for their pain but I'm not sure it even helps. I have a vet bill of $2000+ and I don't really know too much for that. The vet says they need more help but where can you get help if you don't have the money?? Little Girl has had loose bowels on then off since she came. We thought that it was just the toxo, but even after taking an antibiotic for it, she still gets loose bowels when she eats canned food. They mostly eat Fromm Hasen Duckenpfeffer. It was the only dry food that didn't give her loose bowels. It is so expensive, but what do you do? Go without yourself. I know all dry is not good. Ziwi is the only can food I have found that doesn't cause Little Girl loose bowels, for the most part. When she eats it. Little Boy will rarely eat it. Ziwi is quality can food, but it is a little dry. I have bought the Ziwi Lamb Canned Food before and never had a problem. This last case I bought stunk, a lot. It smells like...a barn. I was afraid to feed it to our Little Girl because she has so many health problems. Chewy was kind and gave me a refund, but I would like to know why it smells like that. I haven't been able to get any answers. The Ziwi Lamb we had before didn't smell like this. This stinks. My brother-in-law shares their venison with us, so I know what "gamey" smells like. It isn't that. Does anyone have any thoughts? … more

  • Venison formula

    By on

Best cat food in a world. Right after organic, fresh, raw that is. My cat's health and energy has improved immensely while on this food. I use the venison formula. The other brand I use is natural feline chicken and venison one. It is more expensive but one has to prioritize. I love my feline baby girl and am committed to providing her with the best nutrition.

  • New Formula Ruined Food

    By on

Prior to Ziwi Peak changing their formulas, I fed my 2 Tonkinese cat's this brand exclusively for about 3 years. Now with the chick pea formula, both my cats won't touch this food. I have so much food that I now have to donate to the shelter and this stuff isn't cheap. Last week I ordered a case of the venison flavor as a last chance effort to stay with the brand and they won't eat it. If you can get your cats to eat the new formula it's an amazing brand but my cats would rather starve then eat the new stuff.

  • Love the ingredients and no carrageenan!

I have only given one can to my indoor cats so far. Just got the product today. My five indoor cats immediately took to the Lamb. I believe it is a very healthy formula for cats. This is very pricey but 6.5 ounces, more than normal, and high quality ingredients including organ meats, bone and green mussels which is unusual. Also this is free range grass fed and no antibiotics. I was looking for something without grains, potatoes, sodium selenite, carrageenan, BPA and meat by-products that was more of a limited ingredient diet. The only questionable ingredient for me is Chick Peas or Garbanzo Beans. However, the label says the formula has 93% meat, organs and NZ green mussels so I feel I have only given one can to my indoor cats so far. Just got the product today. Looking for great health for my kitties. … more

  • A winner!!

    By on

One of the best wet foods on this site IMO. Definitely not cheap but hey! Saves on vet bills in the long run, and it's worth it alone to know you're doing right for your companion's health. My two cats, one picky the other not at all, both gobble this stuff up! The only food they like more than that is Rad Cat raw diet, but Chewy doesn't sell this brand.

  • Best Food For Kitties

I feed both of my cats a mixture of ZiwiPeak wet food and Acana Meadowlands or Orijen Tundra dry food; one-quarter of a daily serving of wet and dry for each meal. In other words, a quarter can plus a little less than a shot glass worth of dry food for each meal. I do this for two reasons. First, Ziwi is really expensive and mixing in some dry food helps each can go longer (one can per day between two cats). Second, my cats seem to prefer the added texture of the dry food as opposed to just the wet food which is basically a pate out of the can. This combination of wet and dry works well for my cats and I think its due to the similar nature of the food profiles for each (high protein, biologically I feed both of my cats a mixture of ZiwiPeak wet food and Acana Meadowlands or Orijen Tundra dry food; one-quarter of a daily serving of wet and dry for each meal. I've been using ZiwiPeak since March 2018 to feed my two shelter cats - one is a domestic short hair (classic black and white, 8lbs), the other is a russian blue (gray-ish/blue-ish, 11lbs). Both cats came to me with various ailments and sensitive stomachs which made me experience with multiple types of cat foods including Just Juicy, Weruva, and Blue Buffalo. I settled on ZiwiPeak for two major reasons. Firstly with ZiwiPeak, my cats rarely have any digestive or GI issues (no vomiting, diarrhea, etc). Secondly, ZiwiPeak continues to be one of the only cat food producers that I know I can trust since its had no recalls and is generally known as one of the best quality pet food producers. … more

  • Love Ziwi Peak for my cats

    By on

I used wellness brand for years. My one cat could not lose weight and started to lose his hair on his belly, legs and neck. I switched to Ziwi Peak as it is the next best thing to a raw diet (which my cats still won't touch). They love the beef and lamb flavors and my cat's hair is growing back!

  • Great for cats with sensitive stomachs

    By on

I have a cat with a very sensitive stomach and this food was a big hit! My cat will stop eating foods when he gets bored with them. He also has a very sensitive stomach that makes changing foods a big gamble. Ziwi was a big hit for him and he has had no stomach problems since switching over. It is expensive but it is a great product!

  • ziwi rocks

After trying another high protein brand who seems to have caused an allergy to my 2 cats, This Ziei product works. Nice loaf consistency my cats like. Just pricey but good quality. I hope price doesn't go up or I'll have to refigure what to do. Reliable can quality.

  • Healthy and Tasty, says Rocky

    By on

My cat Rocky loves Ziwipeak lamb, especially this new formula! It's great for his allergies and sensitive tummy. I've never seen him eat a non fishy food like this. Chewy is awesome for carrying this item at such a great cost with great customer service!
