    Cat Would Rather Starve

    By on

I think Ziwi is one of if not the best cat food brands out there and have been feeding my cat their food for a couple years, so this review is difficult to leave. I saw this newer series that looked even better than their original recipes and gave it a go, thinking my cat would be super excited about the new variety (he is not usually very picky about food). Although he loves almost all of their other products and will eat the other Provenance recipes (Red can is approved, has some reservation with the Blue can too but not this bad) something about this particular kind he absolutely refuses to touch and will not eat any of it no matter how hungry and desperate he is. He likes the original chicken recipe fine. Not sure if I got a bad batch or there's just something extremely off with the olfactory appeal of this one, but it's too expensive to try again. I guess I just have to hope it will be more successful as a shelter donation and suck up the cost. Even when I mix it with his other food he always gobbles up, he will literally run from the bowl with any of this in it. … more

    Picky cat loves this

    By on

My picky cat loves ziwi products in general. She particularly loves this one. The food doesn’t smell bad at all. I love how ziwi’s canned food is very dense, unlike other brands. She got tired of consuming hounds and gatos brand as the canned food is very wet and mushy.

    A Huge Miss!

    By on Top 500 Contributor

I bought a pack of Haruki Plains canned food hoping that my cats would like it since they seem to enjoy the Lamb & Mackerel version (well, two of them anyway—one being a finicky eater with consistency issues). However, this particular recipe has failed to entice even the one cat (out of the two that eats Ziwi) that gobbles up other Ziwi canned food. As for the other two, it is simply a lost cause as they would not want anything to do with it. I’m not sure what went wrong but all three of my cats refuse to eat this particular version of Ziwi. I’m a little disappointed because I wanted at least one of them to take a liking to it.

    Boys love it!

    By on

My two cats are super picky when it comes to canned food. Just recently tried a different brand and they did not even touch it. But they love the peak version and more than the original too. Love that this product has all the nutritional value I was looking for as well.

    Finally No Chickpeas

    By on

I normally feed Feline Natural but I believe Ziwi Peak is also one of the best cat foods available. Unfortunately a few years ago, chickpeas were added to their recipes as a healthy alternative to artificial binders. I applauded this decision but unfortunately the change did not agree with my kitties. The new Provenance line does not contain chickpeas and my cats are loving it!! So far we have only tried the Hauraki Plains but we intend to explore the other flavors in this line now that we know it does not cause the digestive issues we saw with the chickpeas. There are a variety of proteins which seems to keep my kitties interested. Several cases in and they still come running!!

    Perfection!!

    By on

I absolutely think this is Ziwipeak’s best yet! The Chicken is white meat and Kahawai, is a white meat fish. The two combinations are great and compliment each other. In texture and scent are very appetizing... I have the two most finicky fur babies in the world and the Hauraki Plains is their favorite, but they also still love Ziwipeak’s Lamb & Rabbit and Mackerel & Lamb.

    Ziwi Peak Hauraki Plains

    By on

In my opinion, this is the Rolls Royce of canned food. The ingredients are second to none. My cat loves it, even more than the regular Ziwi Peak Chicken. I feed it as a treat to my cat's main diet of raw food.

    Cats say "no thank you"

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

I had high hopes for this new flavor.......Ziwi Peak, years ago, was their favorite food. Something changed. I tried this new flavor but have no takers. The two strays we feed say the same thing......they prefer the dry to this Ziwi Peak flavor. I have a few cans left so will keep on trying, but no takers so far. So sad. Such good food, but I think it's missing the "olfactory" aroma that make a cat come to the bowl. My two cats approach the bowl from afar......I know you know what I mean if you love cats. lol

    Why is this one pricier?

    By on

The cans are only 6oz compared to the 6.5oz in Ziwi main product line, yet it is pricier. It also contains proteins from more sources which is generally less desirable than from fewer sources. I don’t see why anyone would buy this other than changing up the flavor once in a while or their cats are very picky and refuse to eat the original line. Please explain the pricing and product difference.
