About Ziwi Peak Pet Food

The Ziwi Difference

Ziwi carefully crafts their food to mirror the whole-prey, meat-rich diet dogs and cats require for a long, happy, healthy life. Their small, dedicated team proudly handcrafts Ziwi in small batches each day. With a passion for pets around the world, they are driven to put the very best of their New Zealand home into every recipe.

Free-Range, Grass-Fed

All ingredients are sourced from the green, free-range farms and blue, pristine oceans of New Zealand. Meats are sourced from humane, ethical and sustainably managed local farms. And fish is caught in the southern oceans of New Zealand, strictly managed to ensure maximum sustainability.

Air-Dried Recipes

Ziwi naturally preserves their dry dog and cat food by air-drying it, eliminating the need for artificial preservatives, salts, sugars or glycerines. Their slow, gentle, twin stage air-drying process results in a food that's as nutrient-dense and digestible as a completely raw diet, but safe and clean to handle, and can store for up to 21 months. A little goes a long way, the recipes are so packed with the good stuff

Moist Meal Options

Ziwi has moist dog and cat food recipe options too, Ziwi implements a small batch canning process to deliver high meat and moisture-rich recipes at higher can weights using the same free-range proteins that can be stored for up to three years.

Only the Good Stuff

Made with your pet's health in mind, Ziwi is made with absolutely no grains, corn, wheat, soy, rice, rendered meats, animal meals, meat by-products, cheap filler ingredients, starches like white potatoes and sweet potatoes, ethoxyquin, pea protein, salt, sugar, glycerine, artificial flavors or colors, antibiotics, growth hormones, or ingredients from China. Just pure New Zealand goodness that helps your pet thrive.

Happy Joints, Happy Pets

All Ziwi recipes include 3% New Zealand Green-Lipped Mussels, a natural source of glucosamine and chondroitin which support long-term joint health. The Green-Lipped Mussel may only be found in New Zealand, where it is farmed using ecologically-sustainable practices.

About Ziwi

As an innovator and global leader of air-dried nutrition, ZIWI is proudly crafted at their 100% owned kitchens located in beautiful New Zealand in the small coastal town of Mount Maunganui on the North Island and the rolling hills of Christchurch on the South Island. Ziwi's mission is to deliver pet food and treats that are carefully crafted to mirror the whole-prey, meat-rich diet that dogs and cats need for a long, happy, healthy life.

Best training treats

If I could afford to, I would use this as dog food as well. But since I can’t, I use Ziwis as high value training treats and our pup LOVES them. There are so many crappy treats on the market with sugars and fillers, so it’s nice to know that I can count on Ziwi to make a really high quality dog food. They were recently bought by a Chinese private equity firm, so we’ll see if they start altering the ingredients. They have already raised the price per bag significantly.

AmStaff Allergies

I have a 4 yr old rescue pure bred AmStaff. For a 1 1/2 we struggled with food issues. I have tried so many different things. I found the Lamb recipe to be the best for her. We went from bathing 2 x a wk to forgetting the last time she got a bath. Unfortunately, she got very thin and I couldn’t afford $800 a month to feed her any longer. She seemed like she was starving all the time so she def needed more fiber food.

Would not recommend these for puppies at all!

I’ve spent hundred of dollars on Ziwi food for my 2 puppies. I have a yorkie and an Australian cobberdog. I bought Ziwi because of its quality and I like the fact that it is raw. However, my puppies has always had stomach problems when they are on Ziwi, including the good dog reward treats. Like REALLY BAD diarrhea….. the kind that requires you getting up in the middle of night multiple times because my puppie was having liquid diarrhea. Thought this would never end lol I thought of a million reasons that could be causing this and never thought it would be food from Ziwi. I finally switched both puppies to hills science diet and they’ve both been having perfectos. I still have a lot of Ziwi food left so I would give these as treats or add a tiny tiny bit to their kibbles. THIS STILL CAUSED STOMACH ISSUES EVERY TIME. I thought the food is good for all stages, maybe it’s no good for puppies? Especially I have two very different breeds? Has this happened to anyone else?

Ziwi's is the best

We have fed numerous bags, various flavors, of Ziwi's and our standard poodles have scomphed up every one. Brick and Skye do not discriminate between great and great flavors. We are now buying the biggest bags available to keep up with the demand!

Too expensive to buy regularly now

The food itself is good, but the massive price hike has made it impossible to purchase anymore. It used to be $103, then slowly exploded into an absurd price that's just not possible to get anymore. Extremely shameful. I used to buy multiple bags a month. Won't be buying Ziwi anymore.

Love ziwi!

Air dried is a great alternative to raw and a wonderful way to boost kibble! I know it's expensive.. it's my only downside. But I do love it! I wish I could afford to get ziwi more but for now it's just a treat for us.

They sent me rotten hoods.

It smells oxidized. I bought it when it was on discount. I was sent something with an oxidized smell. Never buy when the price is discounted. too rude.

makes great training treats

I use the Ziwi air dried food as training treats (too expensive as kibble). Also hopefully the sustainability claims are accurate, which I'd appreciate (have not independently verified). Dog loves anything Ziwi.

Pricey but Dogs Love It!

This high quality freeze dried food is an expensive splurge but I now routinely buy it. I sprinkle a handful on top of my dogs regular food and he eats all of it right up.

poodle breeder

Love this stuff! However feeding it as a food would cost me over $1000. a month. Call it a healthy treat that’s what it is!
