I was reading a question and it said burn in and after burn distance. What does that mean? I understand how to place it I just don't get what burn in and after burn mean
Answer by ChewyMar 26, 2018
The term burn in is similar to when breaking in a new pair of shoe, once used you can move the the light closer to the cage.

Can you use any kind of lighting fixture? Or do you need a specific kind to use with this light bulb?
Answer by ChewyAug 25, 2017
This compact fluorescent bulb provides a balanced light spectrum and is self-ballasted so you can use it in most fixtures, either indoors or outdoors.

Does this bulb fit in the Zoo Med Avian Sun Deluxe Floor Lamp??
Answer by ChewyMay 19, 2018
The product does fit in the Zoo Med Avian Sun Deluxe Floor Lamp.

Whaat are the specifics for this bulb? CRI.? Color temperature in Kelvins? Lumens? Is it zero flicker? These are all important details that determine if a bulb is truly appropriate for birds.
Answer by ChewyJun 08, 2021
The Avian Sun bulb has a CRI of 88 and a Kelvin rating of 6800K, the lumens are 900. All fluorescent bulbs flicker, but any fluorescent bulb can get to zero. The flicker rate of the avian sun bulb is high enough that it will not be noticed by birds.

Always makes parrot happy

UVA & UVB are so important for parrots to metabolize their nutrients for better health both inside and outside their bodies. It is great for their mental wellbeing. I have my lamp plugged into a timer that mimics the rise and fall of our actual sun. I still put my parrot outside in fair weather (supervised by me in his carrier cage) to get real sun as that is always the best. However, when we can't go out it's comforting to know he's still getting the UVB & UVA he needs to be healthy and happy.

Happy with it

I've been using the Avian Sun Bulb for a few weeks now for my Quaker parrot. So far, I have been happy with it and I think my bird is too. It isn't quite as blindingly bright as some broad-spectrum bulbs, which is nice. According to research I did, not all broad-spectrum light bulbs are created equal but this bulb really does give off the full spectrum of light, based on testing.

dead after only five hours of use

the life span of this bulb is short i barely got 5 hours out of it for 17.99. The birds need the light but this bulb is not the answer.

SEEMS HAPPIER WITH THE LIGHT

I usually have plenty of natural sun for my African Grey; however, we have moved and our current temporary home is difficult to get her out into it. She seemed happier with this light on.

Great light!

I use these for my parrot's sun lamp. They last a long time, unfortunately, I knocked over the lamp and had to replace the bulb! It has full spectrum light -good for the birds.

Avian UV light

If you can't take your birds outside in the sunshine, this light brings the sun indoors.

Avian (Sunshine) lighting

Just what the Dr. ordered!!! Especially during the winter months. Don't get much sunshine here in the Pacific Northwest this time of year. So to make sure my birdie buddy stays healthy with strong bones and beautiful feathers she still is able to get her 10 hours of "sunshine" every day. And she stays healthy and looks beautiful!!!

Zoo Med Avian Sun 5.0 UVB Bulb

This avian bulb is very good. I use it with the Zoo Med standing lamp which I also wrote a review. Both products are very good. Thanks Zoo Med!
