This light was recommended by my veterinarian for my African Gray. I am very pleased with it.
Okay, first things first: chewy said that this sun lamp does NOT include the recommended bulb; but IT DOES! If you're put off.by the price of the lamp plus bulb, don't be, it's included. Other than that, my bird really seems to enjoy spending time in "the sun." Doesn't get particularly hot, either. I generally use it several hours a day.
found this lamp to be a great addition to my birds home, have two other units for my parrots and this works well for the tiels.
The light is easy to assemble. A bit taller than I need for my bird cage. My four budgies are afraid of the light over their cage so for now it’s in the same room far away from the cage. So not being used yet. I’m very concerned about the warnings about not looking at the bulb when light is on as all the birds looked up directly at the light before I turned it on.
Some of my birds are in the basement (redone and we’ll lit) however it doesn’t receive as much daylight due to smaller windows. They love this light and I leave it on for them while I’m at work.
My thirteen year old Lovebird adores his new lamp. He seems to require more sunlight as he ages and this year's cloudy rainy weather in our region did not provide the solar power he was needing. I installed and set the lamp on a timer two weeks ago, and my little feathered friend is much less jittery and has substantially reduced his feather plucking behavior.
I got this lamp for a new Conure I acquired who was sick. He seems to have improved and I will be buying another one for my Quaker.
This light is the perfect height to go over the bird cage for my African Grey. The bulb is included which makes this a great deal.
