My Amazon ripped the poorly designed item from the cage within 5 mins. These cannot withstand a medium parrot that wants to use-the sandwich bag style twist tie was ripped out merely from my bird scratching his beak on it. The quality of beak blocks over the last 10 years continues to get worse regarding them being able to stay on the cage..sad because my Amazon loves them but 5 minutes then crash & shatter? I will not purchase again unless the company fixes the problem. Probably okay for cockatiel sized birds, but not a medium sized parrot.

  • The Only Thing They Eat!!!

    By on Top 25 Contributor

These are the only calcium blocks that my Hermit Crabs eat! I've tried over 4 different kinds, flavors, and brands, but they will only eat the Zoo Med brand in the fruit flavor! For calcium they already get their Cuttlebone, their Eggshells, their fish bones, and their ocassional Lobster shells, as well as their expensive Instant Ocean Reef Crystals with calcium (meant for reef tanks with coral), but for some odd reason they seem to always go for the Zoo Med fruit-flavored calcium block! I'm going to try the vegetable flavor as well to see what they like best and to add a little bit of variety (if I don't have enough already lol), but I have a feeling that they'll like the fruit better :D

  • Thumbs down

I can't recommend this because my Conure hasn't touched it since I put it in his cage about 2 weeks ago. Maybe my bird is just too finicky. Other birds may love it. It's cheap enough to try.

  • Promotes a healthy 'keet beak

    By on

A beak conditioner block is a necessity for parakeets and mine love this one for everyday nibbling. It also helped one of my parakeets regain back his beak condition after undergoing a lice treatment.

  • Fruit Mineral Block for my Parakeets

    By on

My parakeets love this mineral block and I think its because of the fruit. They seem to like this more than the plain mineral block.

  • I KNOW My Bird UsesThis...

I put this by my budgie’s food bowl and though I’ve never seen him use it, I think he does, and the fruit flavor is a bonus.

I have two budgies (parakeets) and this is their favorite mineral block. I've offered several different brands of mineral blocks and this is the only one they would ever touch. I would definitely order again.

  • Full of fruit nutrients but budgie doesn't like it

    By on

As nutrient dense as this block is, my budgie doesn't like it. I notice that the block has a bit of an odor and my budgie just shakes his head in disappointment. NOT FOR PICKY BIRDS.
