Ok so I made a previous review of this item while i was really frustrated with trying to build this hideout cavern & it's obviously not getting posted but I went back in for the build again and had success! The directions are not correct for the water mix in the large kit, it says to use 3 cups of water for the soil which is close to half of the water needed. Once I got the clay and water mixture figured out I started to build around a big balloon and POP!! I started to build around the other big balloon and POP again so I did away with the building around the balloon concept and started packing clay without having a inner structure to build around. It was a slow process adding and packing clay 1 handful at a time but it all came together nicely in my opinion and it all has held together well throughout the dry time leaving only one crack in the clay at the bottom of the terrarium where I made a ramp so our beardie can easily climb on top of her hideout if she wants to. All and all I'm happy with the way it turned out especially for being so frustrated in the beginning of the build so as long as you have some patience, get your clay wet enough and use your imagination without using the balloons provided this hideout can be made with a final feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction!! I've attached pictures of our final product so I really hope this review gets posted!! Thanks Chewy, we will be back again and again using your awesome deals and services!!!
Didn't work out as I had hoped. First of all, the instructions were for 10lbs of clay. The kit comes with 12lbs of clay, the instructions indicate to add 3 cups of water. The instructions for the 10lb bag that I had also purchased also said to add 3 cups of water, 2lbs makes a difference. Second, I understand the concept of the bag for easy cleanup. However, the bag made mixing the clay harder. Parts of the bag were covering some of the clay. So I had an inconsistent mix of wet and dry. Lastly, If you have a juvenile bearded dragon the tube that comes with will be too small. Overall I like the concept, but if you're going to get this product you might as well just get the Excavator clay bags.
