Is it safe if your turtle were to eat it?

How often should I use this? After every water change? I have a 75 gallon. Should I put in 5 blocks each time?

Is this to prevent any damage in the future for the turtles or is this for the turtles while they already have some kind of calcium deficiency? My turtles are still babies but I want them to grow healthy. Should I buy this now or wait to they grow older?
Answer by ChewySep 26, 2019
The Zoo Med Dr. Turtle Slow-Release Calcium Block Turtle Supplement can be used to help prevent issues as well as treat some soft shell issues. It can safely be used with hatchling turtles.

If I use these with yellow bellied sliders, do I still need to use the calcium powder when feeding them?
Answer by ChewyJan 26, 2022
The slow-release calcium block can be used with yellow belly sliders, it will help add calcium to the water which they will consume when drinking. However, Zoo Med does not recommend using a calcium powder when feeding them as it can just foul the water. Make sure they are being fed a balanced pelleted diet with added vitamins and minerals.

Hard to rate this

I put it in. It dissolved and all was well. Have no idea if it helped to be honest. Didn’t hurt anything though.

Painted turtle seems to like it

I know turtles need supplements, uvb lights etc so I use these regularly in my 100 gallon tank. I put 3 in after every water change and one every week. After a water change they usually bubble and dissolve quicker, sometimes they last longer I think it depends on the condition of the water but I don't know. I've seen him nibble on the block but after a few weeks of using these I haven't seen him trying to eat it but I'm told it won't hurt them if they do. Must have for aquatic turtles

My baby slider went right to it when I dropped it in a clean tank it started to slightly dissolve a bubble my turtle loves to bite off the arms and legs it is kind of funny ,I feel very confident he is getting what he needs to stay healthy.

Roger's treat

Roger, our rescued red ear slider, loves these and eats them right up! Roger has a funny personality who loves to show off whenever anyone is around! Very cool turtle

Freshwater snail/shrimp tank !

Everyone loves this ! My snails shells are slowly getting more colorful now that I’ve put this in my tank ! I wish I could hide it a little more but it’s cute enough so it’s not an issue

I dont know what i did wrong

I don't know if im overreacting but when i first put mine in the tank you could see it starting to dissolve then it stopped and now 24 hours later it looks the exact same and i see nothing happening to it, and my turtle is showing no interest

Great product

The calcium block is great for my snails and turtles shell health, very easy to use and I like how it’s safe if ingested by the turtle.
