Would this be good for hermit crabs? And how much should I put in my 10 gallon tank? (I already have 1 inch of sand in the tank)
Answer by ChewyNov 20, 2018
This substrate would be suitable for Hermit Crabs. For most hermit crabs, 3 to 4 inches of substrate should be enough but a specific dimension isn't the point. It's important that your crab have enough room to completely bury himself. You should base the amount of substrate on the size of your crab.

Is this bedding good for a ball python?
Answer by ChewyMay 30, 2019
This substrate is ideal for naturalistic terrarium-type setups incorporating reptiles (such as a ball python), amphibians or invertebrates. It retains moisture which snakes need for suitable levels of humidity in their tank.

I have an odd question. a lot of people use coconut fiber to let their rats have a safe digging area that doesn't produce harmful dust. Would I be able to use this product as bedding if I wanted to make a natural caged environment for my rats?
Answer by ChewyJun 26, 2019
This substrate was designed for reptiles, however it would be suitable for other small animals, such as rats.

Does this come with more or less substrate then the package of 3 compressed bricks?
Answer by ChewyDec 21, 2019
Each Eco Earth Brick contains 7-8 liters of substrate. The 8 quart bag of loose substrate will contain a little more than a single brick of Eco Earth, and the 24 quart bag should produce a little more substrate than the three bricks combined.

Not as expected

This is a soft material but was a lot finer than I expected. I feel so-so about it and am not sure I will purchase again.

New Crested Gecko owner first time trying!!

I was told for being the first time crested gecko owner to get the coconut substrate so I looked on chewy and I found this. It's supposed to come today so I'm really looking forward to trying it out and I was wondering if anyone that has had or have a gecko is this a good choice? And if it is will my gecko be a little bit more lively?

Awful for tortoise

I read all the reviews to try to find a replacement for mulch and landed on this. Within minutes of me changing out my tortoises substrate, her water was filled with this stuff. It stuck to her and she is dragging it in her bowl. Impossible for her to soak or drink more than the first time she gets in her clean bowl. Going back to where I came from, forest floor. I feel bad even leaving this in her cage while waiting for my new substrate to arrive, which I ordered as soon as I changed to this mess.

good loose substrate

Great substrate. After brief period of drying its ready to be used. Allows leopard gecko to dig and shouldn’t cause impaction. May slightly irritate the skin if it gets on you.

The price doubled?!

Way too expensive. Don’t know why they doubled the price? Guess I won’t be cleaning out my snakes tank as often 1x every 4th month

Hamster and Hermit Crab substrate

Our hamster loves digging in this texture. The loose coconut mixes well with sand for the hermit crab.
