How many quarts or liters per 2.5 gallon bag?
Answer by ChewyJul 20, 2021
The 2.5 pound bag converts to 9.4 liters.

How many bags would I need for a forty-gallon tank?
Answer by ChewyNov 21, 2019
Determining how much substrate to buy for your new aquarium depends on the size and shape of your tank, as well as the depth of the substrate bed you wish to achieve. We suggest 1 pound of substrate per gallon, to achieve a 1 inch bed or 2 pounds per gallon, for a 2 inch deep bed.

How large pebbles?
Answer by ChewyOct 15, 2019
The HydroBalls may vary in size, however they are approximately 0.5 inches on average.

Would these be safe for a chinese water dragon?
Answer by ChewyApr 18, 2022
The Hydroballs can be used as a drainage layer underneath the substrate for a Chinese water dragon. However it is not recommended to us use them on top of the substrate to avoid your water dragon accidentally ingesting them.

Misleading describes

When one reads lightweight expanded one imagines lightweight porous airy balls similar to hydroton. These are heavy solid balls not porous at all.

It’s a good drainage layer

These clay balls are better than buying gravel or rocks in my opinion. I haven’t been able to find actual clay balls for a good price that had good reviews, so I bought these. I don’t think they provide humidity for me, but maybe it’s because I have a large terrarium. But they absorb the water through the mesh which is good.

Its ok, not as expected

The item works well for the aquafer properties that I wanted it for, but I did not know I might need other items, like mesh, to use it as such until it arrived. It said nothing about that in the description of the item. Overall it works pretty well, helps keep my crested gecko terrarium humidity up during cold, dry winter.

easy to use and not too dusty

I got this bag for a 18x18x18 cube crested gecko set-up. I probably should have gotten 2 bags, but it will work. No issues so far

larger bags available

these are great but cheaper if you buy them at a hydro or gardening store. popular brand is grow!t clay pebbles, comes in 10L or 40L bags. just make sure to rinse extremely well

Good job Zoo Med!

Works very well for bioactive setup and is much lighter than stones or pebbles. I would give 5 stars if this product came in 5 or 6 pound bags, because 2.5 pounds is only enough for a small enclosure like a 12 cube eco terra.
