Will this material grow mold in a humid terrarium?
Answer by ChewyMay 01, 2019
While mold and mildew will grow as long as there is moisture and food, cork poses a serious challenge to mold growth because of its nearimpermeability. Cork is hydrophobic which means it is difficult to wet, therefore it will not be the cause of mold growth in your tank.

I have hermit crabs. Is this safe for them. Will the cork get mites from the moisture. If so do you recommend something to climb on that will not get mites.
Answer by ChewyAug 31, 2019
This habitat decor is not recommended for hermit crabs.

Is this safe for hamsters
Answer by ChewyMar 02, 2021
The Natural Cork rounds will not harm a hamster. It is an all-natural wood product that is not treated with anything.

Is this suitable for a leopard gecko that's full grown?
Answer by ChewyDec 28, 2019
This item is suitable for use by leopard geckos.

One too small???

One was the perfect size for my Syrian hamster, I love it, but the other was way too small to even fit a dwarf! Its NOT going in his cage because he would undoubtedly get stuck, if he even was able to go in it at all. The description says 3.5 inches, I measured and the entrance was just under 1.5

Will definitely buy more

I ordered 2 pieces due to previous reviews saying they were broken. But these are perfect! And I know even if they were not, Chewy has been amazing with their return policy. I will definitely be ordering more in the future. These are going to be perfect in my bioactive enclosures.

Do Not Buy

Would not recommend buying this one bit. Did not come in a hide at all. I received a box full of broken bark pieces covered in dirt with mold spores.

Nice piece

Smaller than expected, but still works. Didn’t expect such a big difference between the medium and large, but it’s still a nice piece of cork. Works great as a burrow starter.

My Hamster Loves These!

These are a great addition to my hamster cage. She also likes to chew the wood.

Best Rat Snake tunnel

Its a bit messy on the inside and because it's cork its not as sturdy as other items but I does look really nice. Its also not very wide and only smaller or skinny critters can get inside of it. I currently have a new rat snake who is slowly getting a tank upgrade and one thing she adores is tunnels. Though she can't ever fit all of herself inside she adores having herself in it so much I might get one or two more for her. The first thing she did when she was put back into her modified tank was go right into it.

Nice price!

A little expensive, but not crazy. Nice and roomy, good size for a leopard gecko or small toad. Sturdy.

The best product for pets!!!

I just can't get enough of these!!! I have bought so many of these over the past year. I use them for my corn snake, hamster, and hermit crab enclosures. It is truly the most versatile and beautiful product for my pets. Reviewers are right when they say it comes in so many different shapes and sizes. I have long rounds, short rounds, wide rounds, and skinny rounds. As long as you are flexible with the shape, you will be very pleased with this product. I use the short wide cork round to simulate a tree trunk in my hamster's cage. He has created a tunnel under it and loves to pop up inside of it! My hermit crabs love to sleep, climb, and eat it. My snake ADORES his wide, long cork round!!! I have them going deep into his natural substrate, and also on shelves throughout his cage. They are his absolute favorite part of his bioactive cage. Someone mentioned in the reviews that they had some spider sacs in their cork round. That is such a good reminder to bake these at a low temp (150 -200 F) for bit (30 min) if you are concerned about bugs. I've never had a problem with mine though. I've have baked one after rinsing it due to my hamster peeing all over a long cork round. All urine smell was eliminated after baking. I really can't emphasize enough how happy I am with this product.
