Is this sand dust free? I’m considering buying it for my dwarf hamster. I see in the reviews two others said it was great for their hamsters too, but I’d like to make sure it is dust free.
Answer by ChewyDec 30, 2021
This all-natural substrate, made from very fine quartz desert sand, is completely free of any chemicals or dyes. Sand stimulates natural digging and burrowing behavior and is an excellent egg-laying medium for reptiles such as Bearded Dragons, Leopard Geckos, Scorpions, Sand Boas, and others.

Hamster Sand Bath

We use this for the hamsters because it is low dust. We’ve ordered it multiple times and it is consistent and quality sand. This is the best price we’ve found for it too.

So far so good

Our bearded dragon is enjoying it. We haven't had any problems with the sand at all

Too dusty for hamster

Purchased the 20lb red sand bag for my Syrian hamster sand bath. This product is way too dusty for hamsters. Thin layers of dust throughout the sections on the tank where the sand is placed, on the tank walls and wheel. Also, I had to shift the sand through a strainer before adding it into the environment as they were large pebbles in the bag that could actually hurt the hamster while digging. There are other products out there that are less dusty however, unfortunately are more expensive. For the overall well being of my little guy, will be purchasing those options instead.
