They work fine if you use them right

Always, ALWAYS use these mats with a thermostat. It doesn't have to be expensive (in spite of what some people will tell you), it just has to work. Don't use them without one or you run the risk of doing serious harm to your animals. These mats don't work forever, and of course they don't stay sticky forever but if you don't move your enclosure around a lot, they don't really need to be. They're safe to use on glass and plastic, for those who use them for free standing tubs. As long as you put them on a thermostat they will not get hot enough to melt plastic. … more

    Best Heating Mat, Not Perfect

By CuriousReptileGuy on May 24, 2018

NOT INTENDED FOR A SOLO HEAT SOURCE. Although it helps provide reptile belly heat. Its not enough to heat the entire enclosure. Not recommended for cold rooms. Doesn't stick very well for very long. Requires a thermostat sold separately. Designed for glass terrariums only.

  • Great price on a good product

I use a lot of rooms for various kinds of reptiles, up to and including keeping one in my purse and plugging it into my car. Why shouldn't reptile owners be able to get in on the purse puppy movement?! At any rate, it's an affordable solution to a very big problem. The number one reason for reptiles to fail to thrive is because their habitat is not the correct temperature.

  • Works fine but beware

I bought this to supplement the heat in my 40 gallon terrarium over the colder months. What I didn’t realize is that this product is only meant for use with a glass enclosure. Upon receiving the product and getting ready to apply it to the side of my tank I read that it’s not for use with any other tank material but glass and I unfortunately have acrylic.

I like the stickiness of the pad. I put it on the end of my crabitat and it fits nicely (20 long) my only complaint is they don't have one big enough for my bed, after all, a cold blooded lizard person like me can't rely solely on a bed mate for warmth.

  • Does it's job too well

This is my preferred brand of heat pads, but only when monitored. These get way hotter than the listed temps. Hot enough to crack your glass. When you use them in combination with a thermostat, they are very reliable and provide steady and safe heat.
