I have two breaded dragons. They like to dig so I provide sand. I feed them outside of the sand to prevent them ingesting it. But this is so horribly dust that it coats everything in the tank. I changed the uvb bulb after 3 weeks of changing the sand it it was even coated in the dust. Don't use this in a dry environment.

I’ve been using this for about 2 months and I find it pretty ok, although the sand in a water bowl with how it taints the water is annoying and it’s left my lizards sort of orange tan ish color, but overall for a reasonable price I say this is a pretty ok product, my lizards aren’t getting any impaction and it’s easy to clean. I would recommend for anyone with a beardie since that’s what I have and they seem to like it.

Bought for our bearded dragon
on Jun 11, 2020
Thought this would be a great idea for a bearded dragon. For the first few days our bearded dragon was dark black because he didn’t like it but it was a change for him so that’s understandable. But the sand has a smell to it which made my sons room stink horribly. For a 16-year-old boy to tell me that his room stinks without me having to tell him, says a lot! Lol! We had to throw it out and go back to using the green fake like carpeting they sell for reptiles. Would not recommend and would not buy again.

The orange color is pretty and soft... but has left my poor beardie bright orange from tip to tail. Not to mention that if some sand ever gets flicked into the water bowl, the color can seep into the water itself. It is certainly pigmented- but far too much!
The Tortoise loves it

I personally haven't tried the vita-sand but we put it in our tortoise's habitat and he seems to think it's yummy so that is a win for us. It also adds a little texture to his tortoise table, giving him something to walk around on.

My geckos love the sand. It’s is so soft and it is such a pretty peach color and it is awesome for my geckos because they are named Peaches and Diva.

This substrate is not safe for and reptiles. It causes impaction, which is when they ingest the sand. Instead, use something like eco earth. But if you want that sand look you can always use play sand. Play sand is safer, and a heck of a lot cheaper. Although, for lizards I do recommend reptile carpet, or even tile. Just try and avoid anything that says “calcium sand”, even though it sounds perfectly safe. Thanks!! :D

Do not put any animal on sand if it's a bearded dragon its femoral pores can get clogged, and sand can cause impaction which is basically when sand clogs up the animals digestive tract and it can very easily kill your animal
