  • There is definitely a difference

We have a sweet, smart, but neurotic/anxious Lab/Beagle/Pit mix that tends to get worked up about things. We aren't really sure what triggers his anxiety, but when it is triggered, he paces (very methodical, but intricate patterns) around the house, panting and obviously nervous/anxious about something. The only thing we 100% know triggers his nerves is when it is about to thunderstorm. In the past, we tried giving him melatonin, which our vet recommended, but it didn't help when he was already in an anxious state. So with our last Chewy.com auto-ship, we decided to try out the Zuke's Calming Treats. In fact, he has only displayed the pacing once or twice since we started this routine. We would definitely recommend trying these with your anxious/nervous dog. … more

  • More of an edible vitiman than a "treat" but works.

So my rescue lab/heeler mix is very treat motivated and luvvvs peanut butter anything so I thought these were worth a try. She also has bad separation anxiety and gets jumpy at any loud sound. Well, she won't eat these as plane treats. They do stink, but I did notice a difference if she ingested them. I would just break a few up in her food at dinner and she would eat them with it. I did notice it gave her a calmer disposition. I thought when the bag ran out I wouldn't order more, but now that it's been a few days without them, I am noticing how on edge she is I am tempted to get them again even though she doesn't like me putting them in her food. Maybe I will try the chicken ones as they are So my rescue lab/heeler mix is very treat motivated and luvvvs peanut butter anything so I thought these were worth a try. Maybe I will try the chicken ones as they are a little less expensive and these don't seem very peanut buttery to me. We have tried other brands calming treats with Lavender and Chamomile, and she likes those a lot.. however I felt these worked better on her brain and nerves. I guess it is more of an edible vitiman than a tasty treat but I still give four stars. Plus I trust Zuke's as a brand. … more

  • Great for my working breed dogs

    By on

I have two Shepherds who need to "take a chill pill" every once in awhile. I've tried other brands to no avail, but these ones are great. I give them each the recommended amounts a few minutes before I have company over and it really helps them to be more relaxed. Its not a knock out effect in any way but it seems to be a nice gentle calming effect. 10/10

  • Totally Worked!!

    By on

My large mastiff/pit mix has severe anxiety, to the point where if it wasn't better by his next vet visit, we were going to start trying prescription medications. We got these treats today and gave him 3 immediately and he calmed down within the hour. I'm sure there are some dogs they don't work for (every one is an individual), but they really helped take the edge off my dog's anxiety. He was less frantic through the day, and I was able to leave him at home without worrying about his mental state.

  • I was skeptical

I have a chi/pap who is deathly afraid of thunder/ hard rain storms. She shakes so hard! I have given her the prescription meds but they aren't good for the liver/ kidneys. So I saw the natural ingredients in this, I even take Valerian. Had a storm last week & gave 1/2 piece to her & the other half to another dog I have (Maggie) Within about 20 mins both were fairly relaxed & Dixie wasn't shaking any more. Hope it's works the next time!

  • Great supplement for my anxious dog

    By on

My dog had severe separation anxiety when I first adopted her. I bought these treats and they helped keep her relaxed and chill when I had to go to work. They stink pretty badly but dogs love stinky things! She loves these but I've offered them to other dogs before with little success (an acquired taste?). I take my girl to a sitter one day a week. I usually dont give her a calming treat on those days but I forgot once and gave her one, my sitter was commenting that she was super calm and unusually chill that day! They're less effective for really stressful situations like the 4th of July but that makes sense and you can just double the amount you give.

  • Life Saver!!

    By on

I purchased these on a whim the day before we left for our first camping trip with our rescue pup. Desperate for something to help her relax on our trip. She's a little over a year old but we rescued her at about 9 months. She loves going in the car because she knows she's going somewhere fun but cries uncontrollably the entire time, especially when she cannot be in the front seat! She's also got a bit of separation anxiety and gets very upset when all of her people are not in the same place. We were concerned how she'd do on her first camping trip. Especially with the travel because it was a 4 hour ride to our location. We gave her one of these about an hour before we left. Saw little effect, however it was very anxiety evoking for her to watch us pack the car, especially once she saw her crate and bowls go in the car! Then because we had so many people and a lot of stuff, her DADDY and Brothers were in a separate car! Needless to say we wound up giving her a second chew about a half hour into the trip because she was freaking out in the car. About 20 minutes later she settled and even fell asleep for the last half of the trip. Something shes never done in the car! We continued to use them throughout the trip at various stressful times for her and one chew seemed to work fine on those occasions. One chew pretty much keeps her calm but alert. She's a 30lb Shiba Inu/Blue heeler mix. I've even given her half a chew at times. They are simple to cut. They do smell horrible but that's the valerian root. There's just no way to mask that amazing herb! These were a lifesaver on our trip AND....my dog LOVES them! I highly recommend them. We now keep a supply on hand at all times! The price is very reasonable too. … more
