I’ve been ordering Zuke’s mini treats for years and they are now hard and a totally different color. I’ve ordered 8 bags the past two months and I’ve received one bag that isn’t spoiled. They smell like rotting meat and they never smelled like this before. When I contacted customer service on September they said they would let the warehouse know and they sent me out two more rotting bags. I’m now looking for a new go-to treat. So sad because these were a favorite on auto-ship.
Zukes has changed their recipe. Now adding cane sugar to their training treats. The treats are harder than previously and are a different color and texture (chicken flavor.) They do not smell appetizing anymore. I have used Zukes for 18 years with no issues. Now my dog is throwing up bile some mornings, and is so itchy she licked hot spots on both her ankles. The only diet change is a new bag of Zukes with the new recipe. We are finished with Zukes. A shame.
I am very disappointed with Zukes mini treats. The last 2 bags ive purchased are hard as rocks when we open the package. I have an elderly fur baby, with no teeth, who has been able to chew the soft Zukes treats with no problem. This is no longer the case, since the Zukes treats are now so hard, and I am now forced to find another soft treat he can chew. All of my fur babies have enjoyed the Zukes treats for years. I am so disappointed. Machelle Lewis
My dogs won't even eat these anymore. Recently, the packaging is clearly made thinner/cheaper, and the treats themselves are dried out and super hard. Yet they still have "moist" listed on the package? This is literally a lie. They don't even smell good. I've been getting these treats for my dogs for years and suddenly they became disguising. This is awful, I have no idea what to replace these with for my dogs.
Use these for my cattle dogs. I’m not a fan of the smell but my dogs like them and the ingredients are decent for treats. I use them for training walks and teaching tricks primarily. Too many gives my one dog loose stools, but that’s just how it goes when you’re training with a large number of treats.
I recently opened the bag and the treats smelled bad and were hard, rather than their normal soft texture so I had to throw them out. The expiration date is not until February 2024 so they should have been good. I've been buying these treats for about 3 years and this is the first time I've had this problem. I hope this was just a one time issue.
I’m so sad, and so are my 4 small dogs. They have always loved the chicken small bites. They were their bedtime treat. But when I ordered 3 bags recently (we stock up!), I noticed the color and texture was different, PLUS, all 4 of my pups snubbed the treats. That lead me to investigate online. Sad to see that the recipe changed. The good news is that we found a replacement. They love Stewart’s freeze-dried liver. I tested 4 new treats and this was the winner. But, if Zukes changes the recipes back, we will be back. If not, farewell.
We've used Zuke's mini naturals for close to a decade. The size and softness of the chew made it an excellent training treat. The last 3 bags I purchased, however, were each hard as a rock. At first I thought it was a fluke, but it appears they changed the formula. Not sure why, but it's not something I will purchase any longer. Very sad.
At first I thought I’d received a bag that was old & stale, so Chewy sent me a replacement. The replacement treats were just as hard as the first bag. I’ll be looking for a new treat to substitute, unless Zukes goes back to its original recipe. Such a shame!!
These were the only treats I could find that my puppy liked. He is now 2years old. After buying these treats for 2 years the last few bags I've bought online and in stores have been totally different. They used to be soft and smelled like chicken. Now they are rock hard and smell rancid/chemical. Did some research and found the recipe changed and now contains cane sugar among other things. No thanks. I'm so disappointed. They really ruined a great thing.
