Smelly and Hardened
We typically buy the normal Zukes Minis until I found these Puppy-oriented one. I figured they'd be better for my 5 month old lab. However, I am just not a fan. They are very fishy smelly (unlike the Salmon Minis), and as other mentioned, harder. Not quite kibble hard, but hard enough where it takes her a minute to chew them. I ended up returning the second bag.
Got these for training treats they are really hard, definitely cant break in half, has an extremely strong fish smell, yes I knew I was ordering the salmon ones but the smell is just too strong for me. My puppy eats them but takes a while to chew them and isnt into them as much as the other soft training treats.
Awesome but with consideration
I love these ingredients and I can tell my puppy wants to love these because she tries so hard, but she has lost / is losing her baby teeth and these are really dense. I usually find them abandoned after she gives up on trying to chew them. Will hold on to them until she has more teeth and try again when her teeth come in because she gets so excited and really wants them.
low cal training treat
Working on training our puppy requires a lot of training treats and positive reinforcement. These are our go-to, he loves them and just the sound of the bag will get him to run in the right direction.
Training treats size
My pup likes them and will gobble 5 at a time put their training treat size , not really treat size especially if you have a larger pup breed.
I have purchased these at a pet store and they were soft and chewy which is what my 4 month old puppy needs and loved. I got 2 bags of these and opened one and they are rock hard! I'm thinking they're old! Maybe I'm wrong but my puppy, that doesn't have much of a problem chewing on other things (!!) is rejecting them! Yes, it is exactly the same brand, flavor, weight, packaging, etc., as those I bought before. Will not buy again from here
Rock hard, not suitable for puppy
I ended up throwing these away. My puppy was making strange faces when I gave them to him and I finally realized why-- the treats were ROCK HARD like literally if I hit them with a hammer they wouldn't come apart! Not sure if we just got a bad batch or something but I will not be ordering these for puppy again. We're sticking with Bixby trainers now, he loves those.
These treats are rather hard and tough. I cut them in half to use for training, but they do not seem to be high value enough for my pup. She will take them and eat them, but other distractions have a higher priority. She does have to chew these rather well.
We have a new puppy who currently responds more positively to treats than praise or positive attention, and these fit the bill very well
hard, not tender as described
These treats, along with the pork and chickpea flavor came to me pretty hard (not tender as described). They are hard like kibble. After doing some research this is a common theme for these particular treats/flavor, even purchased from other sites. Just wanted to share, as previous treats I've purchased of this brand have been tender as described.
