Finally, a pellet food our parakeets will eat

By NannyKid on Oct 27, 2021

Since getting our now one-year old parakeets we have been attempting to get them to eat pellet food (as recommended by bird experts), but to no avail. We recently decided to give ZuPreem Natural for Small Birds a try because of the small "seed-size" pellets and no dyes. We recently decided to give ZuPreem Natural for Small Birds a try because of the small "seed-size" pellets and no dyes. We started feeding them ZuPreem Natural about 3-4 weeks ago mixed with a fortified parakeet seed mix. Approximately a 3:1 mixture; pellets to seeds. We placed the seed mix on the bottom of their food bowl then placed a good layer of pellets on top of the seeds so that they were forced to forage through the pellets to get to the seeds. By Week 3, there was absolutely no doubt that they had begun eating the pellets as well as the seeds. Now to get them to eat the fresh veggies / fruits we keep offering them... patience and perseverance. … more

The finches on Thirteenth Street in my bird feeder were not so fussy. They and the white breasted sparrows ate anything I put in it. I watched a one-legged father teach his son how to eat from the feeder by demonstrating 2ce how to do it and when it kept hitting the glass instead it got popped in the head by daddy and after that he found the hole. I don't know where to go for whitish grey flat seeds instead. Other than feed the squirrels!! … more

This is my go to parakeet food! My girls love their pellets! They're picky eaters and they have no problem chowing down on this stuff.

    Doves LOVE

Thank goodness this bag had no webs & worms in it. I specifically buy this for my baby doves. Great starter to introduce the little ones. They love it & its one of the best pallets in the market. Absolutely recommend.

    mixed reception of pellets

    By on

Got this for my parakeet and cockatiel. Parakeet has shown no interest and will eat around it, cockatiel will make a bunch of dust because he likes to break it apart. I now put the pellets in a separate cup so the cockatiel can make a pile of dust apart from the regular food.

    Perfect for little Parrots

    By on

We have a budgie and a rosey Bourke, both love this stuff and eat it readily. We actually have 7 birds, they all have their preferences, but the two little bitty parakeets definitely like this stuff
