About Us
Carolina Tiger Rescue in Pittsboro, NC, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit sanctuary and educational facility whose mission is saving and protecting wild cats in captivity and in the wild. We currently have 50 carnivores of 9 different species: tigers, lions, cougars. bobcats, caracals, servals, kinkajous, coatimundi, and porcupine.
Carolina Tiger Rescue is one of a small number of GFAS accredited sanctuaries in the US. As a founding member of the Big Cat Sanctuary Alliance, we are often called on to help rescue big cats from abusive and neglectful situations across the county.
Through advocacy and public awareness, progress is being made to protect animals suffering in captivity as money-making objects languishing in substandard cages and deprived of the most basic care. Carolina Tiger Rescue has positioned itself at the forefront of rescue and educational efforts, collaborating with other reputable sanctuaries across the country to enact legislation and affect change on a national level.
